The clash of the 2 favourites to win the trophy so something's got to give.
Barcelona with the genius of Messi and Liverpool with a lethal front 3 could serve up a treat.
The fans over there already seem to be enjoying themselves. Will they be happy by the final whistle?

This is what football is about - big matches versus the best. Can’t wait for it.

Barca unbeaten at home for 6 years in Europe so I expect them to win. I’ll be happy if we can get an away goal and if we lose then hopefully only by 1. Would be very happy with a draw.

Played 4 at camp nou, undefeated,2 wins,2draws, hopefully we stay undefeated after tonight.

Plenty of Liverpool fans going through Knock Airport these past few days to save hundreds on flights. The Knock to Somewhere near Barcelona flight was about €40, many flying over from Liverpool to get it.

That's all I can add to the build-up, has the makings of a cracker.

Battle of European royalty tonight, 5 European cups each, should be a cracker.

Huge fan of Messi always a joy to watch and for me the best ever.
However as a Liverpool fan i hope he has two off days :)
The difference between the teams is Liverpool have a world class defence aswell as world class attack, that barca defence is pretty poor to say the least.
If Jurgen decides to let them off the leash and the heavy metal football is there i just cant see barca living with us.
Could be wishful thinking ofcourse but as a neutral id form the same opinion.
Will he go for a more reserved tactic as so many teams have come undone with a gungho atitude over there?
Rumours of Gomez starting instead of Trent possibly suggest the more reserved approach.

Barca take this for me ,they seem to go into they over confident and could find them selfs in trouble tonight.
Nice price on barca aswell which I will be wetting my beak on!

I'm not sure Barca have played anyone like Liverpool recently. At one end, the strength of Liverpools back line with full backs being crucial to Liverpools attacking play and on the other one of the best front 3 in recent memory. Between them a midfield that has been underappreciated.
Non-stop running and what seems like an endless supply of energy are going to really bring it to Barcelona.

Messi is obviously key to the game. If he gets time on the ball and space, he can do anything.

Not overly confident as a Barcelona fan. Huge pressure on the home leg with their dreadful away form in Europe and they've been switched off in the league since the win against Atletico. Dembele hopefully starts over Coutinho.

    Would appreciate Moreno starting too.

I predict this to be the start of liverpools double decline.

What a brave sterling prediction. You truly stand alone, a heretic against the tide of popular opinion with that.

Barca strong favourites for tonight and narrower favourites overall to win the tie. Liverpool decent favs with bookies now to finish the season without a trophy. So nothing to be gained "predicting" the favoured outcome.

Hopefully Messi can channel Ronaldo tonight and put in a good European performance, and kickstart the end of Liverpool’s season in the process.

What years did they beat/draw with Barca at home?

2nd post in thread says Barca unbeaten at home in six years in Europe.

2nd post in thread says Barca unbeaten at home in six years in Europe.

Barca and Liverpool have played each other 4 times in Europe 1 set of games in a group stage and three times in knockouts and each knockout times Liverpool have gone through

1st time UEFA Cup 1975-76 = Agg 2-1 to Liverpool 0-1 to Liverpool in Barca and 1-1 in Liverpool
2nd time UEFA Cup 2000-01 = Agg 1-0 to Liverpool 0-0 in Barca and 1-0 to Liverpool in Liverpool
3rd time Champions League Group stage 3-1 to Barca in Liverpool and 0-0 in Barca
4th time CL 2006-07 = 2-2 with Liverpool going through on Away goals 2-1 to Liverpool in Barca and 0-1 to Barca in Liverpool

So you could say Liverpool are unbeaten so far in Barca but have not played them in over 12 years so does not really count towards form tonight and next week

We played them in 2001 as Reina was in goal for them at Anfield, I think. I also remember them coming to Anfield a few years before that and winning. Other than that I'd say were are talking ancient history.
Now someone will point out we played them in 2017 or something.

I should have just googled it

3 wins, 3 draws, 2 losses vs Barca.

Isn't this time of year the end of season for everyone?

Ah ancient facts no bearing on this game imo.

Going to be a good game.

Think Barca edge it but expecting both teams to score. Think a 1 goal deficit and Liverpool will still fancy their chances in Anfield

    2-1 or 3-2 prediction.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,645 ✭✭✭RollieFingers

Barca can be got at, United should have scored at least once in the Nou Camp. They didn't score because they are woeful, but the point stands that the Barcelona defence isn't infallible.

In this seasons Champions League, Barca have conceded 7 goals - Liverpool have conceded 9

Up there with one of the best ever goals scored at Anfield by an opposition team. The passing, interplay, movement and a class through ball at the end. It was just sublime.

Not the best video of the goal, but you can still see the play.

    FC Barcelona 0 - 2 Liverpool FC

Fast start from the reds, all over them like a rash. Get the two goals inside 20 mins, then things stabilise and Barcelona start to dominate possession and Messi comes close, but Liverpool’s defence stands strong.

Van Dijk and Mané with the goals.

Rumours of Firmino not passing a late fitness could be a blow for Liverpool

If it is the case, I wonder will Sturridge or Origi start? Or perhaps play Salah/Mane through the middle and play Ox now that he's back?

    No chance Ox starts. Zero.

If he's out, it'll be Origi IMO.

where are all these rumours actually coming from?

The last official / journalist word was that Firmino trained yesterday and was ok.
