Bank letters, account holder left country

    My younger brother left for Oz 6 months ago, he was always highly irresponsible and we never saw eye to eye.

    I recently returned home to help my parents out with some things, and today I found a pile of letters in my brothers name that have been arriving at the address since he left.

    I know I shouldn't have opened them, but I wanted to make sure there was nothing urgent in them, and discovered that before he left for Oz he racked up some debt with his bank. Surprise surprise, no sign that he's been paying it back.

    I just want to make sure that there won't be any blowback on my parent's should things inevitably go to court. Do I have anything to worry about?
    Should I just leave things well alone?

    Does your brother have the same name as your father?

    Re-envelope them and return to sender stating no longer at this address. Once your parents aren’t guarantors on the loans it shouldn’t affect them.
