This is one of my top covers. I love the addition of the whistle. Use to work for this guy and he was very tough to work for but he was a nice man. If he got into an argument with an employee, he would be visibly upset but he'd always walk out whistling like he didnt care. My friend and I use to say that a simple whistle can convey many meanings
Astonishing command of the whistle. Its beautiful.
But surely the standout moment in this record is 2:14 when Manzanera's solo melts into the that beautiful sax.
To raise the bar on Lennon on his own tune, and shortly after he died.
Well. Only the truly great could do it.
The 80s sadly saw some terrible "sax moments".
And many were poor imitations of this brilliant cover.0 -

Didn't know this but Cream's Cocaine was a cover and Zeppelin's Dazed and Confused! Here are the originals...
It was Eric Clapton (as a solo artiste) who covered Cocaine, not Cream. In relation to the latter, the Led Zeppelin song is a different one and is credited to Jimmy Page as songwriter|(I think, for legal reasons, Robert Plant was not allowed put his name to songs at that time). That said, the opening riff (as well as the identical title!) are similar. But the lyrics and the tune are different.0 -

I was asking myself that when I typed it and just went with Cream
Sorry, yeah i just read about Dazed and Confused quickly this morning and there was something about The Yarbirds with Jimmy Page using the song first with a different arrangement, then further changes were made later in Led Zeppelin. It's like they just kept working on the original to finish the song.0 -
