A decent idea now they have a couple of their own shows/films released every week now.

Netflix Experiments With Top Ten List In UK To Help Subs Choose Popular Shows
Netflix is to launch a top ten list to give subscribers the chance to find out which of its shows are most popular in their region.

The streaming service is launching an experiment in the UK in the second quarter of the year that will release a weekly top ten list of its shows across different programming categories. It hopes that this will make choosing titles easier.

Netflix’s Chief Product Officer Greg Peters admitted that it was one of a hundred tests that Netflix does each quarter to improve the service but he added that the company was quite bullish about it.

“There’s a bunch of our members that really enjoy watching the most popular shows because they enjoy watching the show and then engaging in the public conversation around the show and all of the memes that are shared. We want to do a good job to let our members know what those most popular shows are and then can participate. We’re quite bullish on that and we’ll see how it does,” he said.

Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos, also speaking on its investor call following its first quarter results, added, “Popularity is a data point that people can use to choose, it’s not the most important one or the only one. We don’t want to suppress it if it’s helpful to our members.”

The service will start in the UK this quarter and Netflix will then decide whether to expand the test to other markets.

I wish they would bring back the star rating system instead of the thumbs up and down business.

Haven't seen that bit yet, but I looked it up and there is no CGI used, if that's what you mean.

No I just meant it was cool.

If you are referring to this comment
The pod of dolphins being chased by false killer whales

False killer whales are actually a real thing, they are large oceanic dolphins.

    See here:

Really enjoyed Delhi Crime. One of the better international series watched.

It is very well done, but I had to abandon it because that particular crime was so disturbing. It was/is difficult to contemplate.
I hope this documentary instigates more worldwide attention. Having researched the story since watching the first 3 episodes... it seems that not a lot has been accomplished in reducing cases of rape and violence towards women in India.

It was extremely disturbing I agree. Probably the most horrible case I've ever heard about.

I've not watched it yet but I can't wait to rewatch at the weekend but I love that jurassic park is on Netflix. I loved that movie when it first came out and had it on vhs for years. I think I've seen the lost world one and I don't think I've ever seen the third one. I didn't know that Sam Neil came back for a second film.

It's a series based on true events. Not documentary

Just to give a counterpoint, this got terrible reviews and is seen as one of the reasons Colin Trevorow was dropped from SW Episode IX. I sat through it in complete bafflement that it had got made. There are some interesting ideas but I think one of the biggest problems was casting Naomi Watts who must be nearly 50 in the role of the mother who enjoys video games and is naive enough to go along with her son's plan (trying to avoid spoilers). I thought it was utterly ridiculous but it clearly worked for some.

25 years on, and that T-Rex scene has yet to be beaten in 'monster action'.

Not just the CGI (and animatronics) but the direction, setting, sound... everything. :)

I think Jurassic park was the first film I saw on a big screen with surround sound....absolutely brilliant film.
I have seen it so many times since, still holds up.

The fact most of the FX from that T-Rex scene was just a big animatronic puppet is probably why it still holds up. The CGI is pretty strong too, but it remains a clearcut example of why staging, acting and tension is easier to build when everyone can work against a huge prop - and not a tennis ball on a stick that'll get filled in by a render farm (coupled with the fact many modernday FX scenes aren't even 'directed' by the director him/herself)

No amount of second unit directors and render farms could match this.

*cough*MCU*cough* (Which also explains why 10 years of FX all have the same generic look.)

On episode 4 of Black Summer, its intense.

Was loving it. Episodes 1-5 all good. Things going well. Then episode 6.
I thought I had skipped an episode by accident so checked back. Nope nothing missed.
WTF is going on? 7&8 nothing.

Annoyed. Haven't been this disappointed since The OA

Dunno if it's been mentioned but I gave Toast of London a go and it's really funny. I always thought the boss from IT crowd was one of the best characters and it's the same actor who plays the lead here and he's equally silly in this role, I think he also writes the show.

Toast is great, I love his voice over sessions with Clem Fandango.

    Omg that's my favorite too!

Yes, I can hear you Clem Fandango.

I dont even know why it's so funny it's just the way they keep bringing it back and his name is so ridiculous.

Weird that it was on for 3 seasons and I never once caught even part of an episode. Tbh I think some of the best stuff on Netflix is the shows they pick up that have already ran but were overlooked. I find a lot of the Netflix originals really uninspired and like as if they were just written based on some millenial focus group.

And deliberately deceptive climate change propaganda. Just remember to consume any of their documentaries with an open mind.:pac:

Watched it a few months ago myself. It still holds up extremely well. Still one of Spielberg's best, I reckon.

Always liked the way that scene mirrored the slow tick tick sound of Quint's fishing rod as the line was getting drawn out.

Drama based on real story. Great acting and attention to factual detail.
The Objective narrative does not alleviate the horrific nature of the crime. Truth is truth... but certainly it is not an easily rectifiable situation in India imo...until the old caste system and traditional attitudes towards women, esp in the uneducated and poverty stricken areas, is eliminated. May take centuries. Throwing money towards encouraging women to report sexual crimes, and increased police presence 'aint gonna solve it.
