Nct fail

Car failed on a worn link, mechanic can’t fix it until next week.
Should have been done the end of last year but it completely went out of my head as I had a lot going on at the time,so it is out of test. Poor excuse but it’s the truth. Nct mechanic said it’s not a major fault but still needs to be repaired.

Am I ok to drive it in the meantime until I can get it to a retest?

Oh & my darling kids managed to lose the insurance cert & tax disc in the last few days. Only saw it today so have no idea where they’re gone. I ordered them again as soon as I saw it but unlikely I’ll have them before the bank holiday. All I need now is an enthusiastic new grad from templemore to meet me at a checkpoint

id say the car would be ok to drive for now, concern more with no insurance disc , leave the insurance certificate in car just in case.

From a safety point of view it's probably no more dangerous next week than it was last week.

From a legal point of view, it depends on when your NCT expires.

OP already said it's out of test.

You get caught by guards, it's a car without NCT. Doesn't matter why, how minor or major it is. Insurance cert has no bearing on it, as suggested by someone else to have about.
