Some recommendations please

Hi guys

I'm trying to decide on what used car to buy and feel like I'm going around in circles.
Just the main points on my list:

- Saloon or hatchback (not too fussed).
- Not above 1.5/1.6L. Would prefer to keep insurance and Tax down
- On average I do approx. 11,000 miles per year. Daily commute to work is 30 miles, mostly motorway.
- Hoping for something fairly economical on fuel
- Basically a reliable car.
- Max. budget 14-15K, but if can get a good one for lower even better!

Any thoughts or advice much appreciated!

Not large anyway. I'm not into the SUV type.
High tech not a necessity.

Sporty-ish would be nice.

Lexus CT 200 ,petrol auto hybrid.(only engine and trans option)

1.8 ltr, but cheaper to run than a 1.2 for fuel tax and probably insurance .

Never driven the new ones but it’s supposed to be very good. I’m not a believer in the new crop of small turbocharged petrol engined from a longevity and cheap long term ownership point of view so it’s great to see Mazda doing a normally aspirated slightly larger engine while still apparently giving good mpg and the all important cheap tax.
It is a bit more complex than a regular petrol, but I haven’t heard of any issues because of this (they’re a pretty recent engine though)

Toyota Auris 1.33 litre, nothing complex under the bonnet or no turbo to worry about:

Have never been a big fan of Toyotas tbh.
