Crashed car sale

Having a debate with a friend, he got his partners car checked over engine was making a funny sound, and it turns out it was crashed, the repair work was don't to a high standered but non the less she has a crashed car, they did a history check on it and it comes up clear no word of a crash. Now he knows it was crashed but has not told her.... They are trading it in to a dealership in the next week or so, if she knows nothing about it being crashed does the dealership have any come back on her if after they take the car in the find the damage ? Or is it a case of buyer be ware?

It’s up to the dealer to check car prior to doing a deal with her/you.... no comeback on her/you if dealer doesn’t cop any issues....... history checks show insurance damage repairables that insurers chose not to repair e.g. cat c/d/s/n.... if car didn’t go thru insurance or if insurer chose to repair it, history check won’t show anything

It does not sound very ethical.
Might even be illegal,fraud. or at least breach of contract.

I think you need to speak to a lawyer to seek legal counsel.

How long had they owned the car before it made 'the funny sound'?

Would all depend on the extent of the damage...most drivers at some stage in their motoring life will experience a "hit". Might be only something like a dent cause by a trolley in a supermarket car park, or could be a major impact, where the car ( assuming it would be economical ) would need to be repaired on a Jig-Bench. But nowadays, I don't think that this happen's very often. So you have a case where the damage is cosmetic, and at the other extreme, could actually be dangerous after repair's. So the question is, which category and at what point does the OP car belong to?
