drive for a living at an advanced level for several years now but funnily enough I've never really owned a nice car with a bit of power.

Been thinking I need to upgrade from an 1.4 fiesta to something with a bit more go.
I'm well used to driving large engine 2L vehicles, diesel and petrol.

Budget 25k flexible. Preferably second hand. 2015-2018 age wise.

    Must be petrol.

The two cars I've been daydreaming about lately.

    Mazda mx5 miata

    or
    Ford Focus ST

    What would you go for?
    :D

You have the itch so try both and see what suits.

Anything will be a step up from old car.... Even though fiesta are a good motor just nothing crazy such as powerful unless st of course.

One thing that draws me to the mazda is the rear wheel drive.

The newer 2019 ST and Miata models seem quite different spec wise to previous gens.

Engines seem smaller or am I just being confused by the convoluted websites dealers make you thrawl through like catalogues.

What flexibility do you need in terms of carrying passengers or cargo? Focus would be better for both, but Miata would be perhaps the "purists" choice, being rwd.

Fiesta ST that's a couple of years old and save yourself 10 grand?
