Can anyone recommend me a decent basic printer?

Any come with a full black cartridge? What should i look for? I will mainly be using it for black cartridges so they have to be able to purchase with color. Something reliable byt cheap and cheerful at the same time.

If it will have less than regular use and you can do with B&W you might consider a laser rather than an inkjet.

Inkjets tend to clog up if not in regular use and you end up having to buy new cartridges more often.

Downside is that laser printers are more expensive to buy at about €100 for a basic one.

Yes that's the sort of thing.
That seems to be good value, maybe someone who has one will give an opinion or you might get an online review.

The 'W' version has wireless so is convenient if more than one user wishes to print.

Only familiar with inkjet ones, similar costs or cheaper?

buy a used and refurbished proper office quality printer. You can pick up cheap and they will last forever

I have not used up the limited toner supplied with the printer. I do not print a lot.
Per page printing is cheaper, and the problem of inks drying out and ruining cartridges meaning wasted ink because of lack of use, no longer applies.

It was easy set up and use and print quality very acceptable.

I have since been presented with a used Dell laser printer with some toner remaining. It printed straight off, even though it had been stored for several years, unused.
Pity I did not get the donation earlier, it would have saved me a few quid.
