Eh JD most definitely is not the 'owner' of the FAI, though he sure as fcuk has acted like it to date.

obviously i know that ffs, i was making the point a ceo providing funding is more common in scenarios where they are also owners.

a lot of people believe that this is illegal apparently.

Only tuning in. Whos the FAI lad on now answering questions?

Donal Conway, President of the FAI. He's been "answering" pretty much all the questions, Delaney hiding behind him.

If you know that, why are you making a completely irrelevant point then? Did I mention illegality? I haven't seen anyone else do it either. If you're replying to my post, its a bit odd to respond with points that have NOTHING to do with what I've posted.

There's a theme of what if's in your posts, that have really no relevance to the FAI or this particular debacle.

you are selectively reading then because criminal investigations have been referenced plenty as well as references to this dodgy €100k.

The only thing dodgy was its non disclosure with the facts we have at the moment.

Jesus wept, here, you wouldn't be out of place down at the Oireachtas Committee today. Absolute nonsense. These were things that JD has done, that COMPETENT CEO's do not do, i also marked each comment with USUALLY. I'll bold the important bits in the future to make it easier for you.

Did you miss the part where I said I made no mention of illegality? Perhaps read my posts more clearly in future before quoting them and responding directly TO ME.

The f**king neck on Delaney. He's going to be sitting in that room for over 8 hours and not answer a single question.

    what ifs was it

if you are bolding the important bits of your posts there wont be much call for ctrl b

what has getting rent paid as part of comp go to do with being a competent CEO?

what point are you even making?

i was saying i wouldnt expect a ceo to be involved with a 100k cash flow shortage. i stand by it.

A few sliding tackles going in on Delaney now but he's unruffled and sticking by his statement.

Are you for real? You believe a competent CEO would stand over drawing down an excessive salary, taking payment of rent all the while the company finances were in the sh1tter and needing to bail them out?

Would a competent CEO not be asking questions of where all the money was going that required him to make such a bailout? The same CEO that presides over a financially broken league, where prize money is less than his own salary?

Surely a competent CEO would ask himself the question, jesus, maybe I should pay myself less and give the clubs more money, so they don't, you know, go bust. A competent CEO would at least see that the optics of paying yourself more than the league winners looks incredibly bad.

you are judging his salary as excessive, that's subjective. and again a short term liquidity problem is precisely that, its not evidence of finances being in the sh!tter as you so eloquently put it.

The Salary of the CEO is greater than the prize money of the winners of the National league.. I don't really think you can claim that his salary isn't excessive.

In your subjective opinion, do you think he offers value for money?

Proving once again how ineffective these Oireachtas committees are.

It's of little consolation to Delaney, Sport Ireland will find it hard to reach a stage where they say the explanations are good enough and they reinstate the grants. And that's still the huge issue for him. He'll need them to climb down and not sure he can secure that.

Meanwhile the FAI will be more and more alienated and toxic, it will have to cause sponsors to grumble at some stage.

While John will make it through today, as was always likely, he won't be punching the air tonight.

He'll tough it out til a UEFA job appears, then they'll announce his voluntary steppping aside "for the good of Irish football" and a step forward for everyone.

Just tuned in and they are taking another break!

Who’s the chairman of the committee and why is he not letting yer man ask questions about different bank accounts?

I don't think 360/400k for the role of CEO of an organisation of that size is outlandish, but i dont know how delaneys value is judged by those on the remuneration committee, is it linked to his profile within uefa / fifa, his ability to secure external funding for the organisation etc or if its linked to his track record in improving the LOI.

Ineffective how exactly? They are largely powerless but one thing they do is shine a light into the goings on etc in organisations like this, its an eye opener

Imelda Munster slaughtered Delaney there earlier. 'Paraphrasing: A disgrace that you refused to answer questions here today, but the good thing is that people watching today can see it for what it is'

In fairness he said he's going on legal advice

Not exactly evidence however the refusal to answer basic questions on why this 100k was required as well as trying to stop the information being made public via an injunction certainly dont paint the FAI and Delaney in particular in a good light.

Also given he has admitted that their overdraft facility would have been exceeded it doesn't exactly scream 'good corporate governance'

Then theres the 'honorary treasurer' who cant even remember how many bank accounts the FAI have even though that would be surely part of his role...
