Fabinho killed with a simple shimmy and Hojberg ran by Keita way too easily before he realised he needed to track him. Midfield needs a change, they don't have the legs to keep up with Southampton's counter

I'd bring Henderson in for Gini. Gini looking very tired tonight.

    Winning no ball.

Crank Naby’s pacemaker up for the second half and we’ll batter them.

Southampton are set up really well.

We’ll need to improve in the second half to take the 3 points

When did streams become shiote? in the last year the whole scene has gone to hell.

Need to up the tempo big time this half or it's all over

Absolute garbage performance, especially by midfield. You wouldn't know we're chasing a title. Completely insipid.

Not going to be able to watch the second half live, hopefully we have a better second half performance. it'll be difficult to be any worse

Delighted to get in at 1-1 out of that. Shocking for the 1st 30 minutes, absolutely shocking. Improvement since, but Southampton still looking the more dangerous I think. We need to find another gear here or we're not leaving with 3 points, and maybe not 1 either.

It has to be nerves, what other reason is there

There was a moment from Wijnaldum where he got the ball just outside his own box, under no pressure at all, and swung a lazy left foot at it passing it back to Southampton in our own half.

I domt think the saints can keep that running up from midfeild ,
Id replace gini with Hendo and Keita with Shaq and go back to 42 31

It's worrying that so many players are playing so awful given how close we are to a title.

Saints will defo tire in the second half

    Ston have shot their load.

    1-3 I predict.

need to hold out first 15 second half, they'll surely tire.

Southampton look good, we are not really on it at all though, very sloppy and getting caught on the break far too often, need to get a bit more disciplined on the ball and take better control....looks a difficult second half, we've not had many opportunities either, need to dig deep...

Maybe the manger knows what he's doin lads, just a thought, only our best ever run in a league, can't be perfect in all aspects all the time. Saints are playing well.

More I see that goal the more I wonder what Matip was doing out there.

Reminds me of Moses sauntering around the place when we were going for the title in 2014. Couldn't get my head around it.

Yea, ball watching, completely switched off.....

Need Milner in there, you won't see him pull out of 50/50.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,631 ✭✭✭✭Osmosis Jones

Matip gets caught out trying to run with the ball far too often, 90% of the time he just runs forward completely out of position and then lumps it back to Trent under pressure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,028 ✭✭✭xabi

So VAR wouldn’t have given the offside, interesting.

I feared this midfield trio was a bridge too far, especially away from home, no fluency there in first half. Need to get a level head on there. Fab looks great when Henderson is holding, but when Fab plays and Henderson does not he takes Henderson'ss role and looks lesser of a player.
Get Henderson on, move Fab forward, pull Keita, he scored but other than that he's not looking up to speed.

Hopefully that goal gives Keita a bit of confidence, big goal that...
