If buying from a reputable dealer, who offers a proper warranty etc....is there a need to bring a mechanic with you to check the car out?

    Thanks.

Generally when it comes to the likes of franchised main dealers it'd be unusual and mostly un necessary to bring a mechanic as the establishments aren't usually fly by night type outfits.

People usually bring a mechanic to smaller or independent dealerships where the background of the dealer and/ or the car would usually be more in question.

Definitely wouldn't be getting a mechanic to inspect anything from a Joe Duffy Group forecourt, they are a huge operation, they would want to avoid trouble as much as you do.
