Audi A4 B7 internal steering wheel squeak - slight

Had a slight misfire on my A4 B7 and brought it in. No.2 coil fault which was replaced while I waited.

I didn't hear it whilst driving home but whilst reversing in I could hear a slight but definite squeak from the steering as I turned it back and forth - like the sound you get when rubbing a wet finger hard against a glass, if not anywhere near as loud as that.

The squeak wasn't there when I arrived at the garage (and I've had the car a couple of years and no noise).

The guys in the garage couldn't see how replacing a coil pack could do anything, although they did adjust the steering for the test drive. Sprayed a bit of lube between the steering wheel and column which hasn't fixed it. Adjusting the steering position (depth/height) doesn't alter it either.

Any ideas? The noise sound like it's just beyond the steering wheel in the column.

Seemingly resolved. The squeak is gone - presumably whatever was squirted in between the steering wheel and column worked it's way into whatever it needed to work its way into.

    Thanks for reading
