Hope this is the right forum for this query. If the owner of a car wants to sell it but has lost the registration certificate / log book is it possible to get a replacement? If so whats entailed in the process?

    Thanks :)

A while since I did it but it went something like this:
Get replacement form from your local motor tax office.
Bring same to local Garda station fill it in and get declaration signed and stamped by Garda.
Return to local motor office with completed form, get them to check over same and pay the relevant fees for replacement documents to them
With form filled, fees paid and receipted send completed form to Motor Details in Shannon and your logbook should be returned to your address within a couple of weeks.

I think the whole process cost me less than €30, I spent more time trying to get a Garda station open!

Its the same thing I'd imagine, also commonly referred to as the log book.

Cheers, that's what I would always have known it as down the years. In fact Im old enough to remember the old brown hard paper type log book which contained the names and addresses I think of all previous owners.
