[n00bie] learning computer science: 1. Java

    Hi, I am one of those looking to change career horse by learning computer science.
    This is the resource I am starting with:
    programmedlessons [dot] org
    This teaches Java for the AP exam in the US and it's really well structured for a beginner. It's supposed to take 3 months but it's taking me longer on my own. I have tried to find something comparable for python and failed.
    After that, I aim to follow github - ossu computer-science which suggests moocs (can't post exact link).

    There are a lot of free (old) resources on the web for US university courses in programming and web design too.

    Any suggestions or comments gratefully accepted. Part of the reason for posting here is to motivate myself to get on with it after months of involuntary overtime.
