For fullbacks who played semi regularly I think Javier Manquillo was very poor for us. Could never understand the people defending him at the time, he was young sure but clearly a level below what we needed. Average player.

Kromkamp and Josemi were up there too.

Manquillo only made 19 appearances and was out the door in one season he wasn't good but he also didn't contribute to too many terrible performances. Moreno has made 137 appearances and has been here 5 years.

Was Manquillo not on loan with us?

Going to attempt to move away from the same worst 11 conversation that comes up every 3 weeks and naming the same players over and over again......

Am I right in saying that the internationals are over now? this one actually doesn't seem to be as bad as other ones with the turnaround time. The latest game any of our players featured in was a normal kick off time Tuesday night. If they are back in Liverpool today and possibly a light session at most, but back into training Thursday, Friday & Saturday for some good sessions before we play Sunday.

    • A few players got a break too, such as Salah, Shaqiri, Keita, Matip, Lallana, Sturidge and TAA. Fabinho & Origi both travelled but didn't play. Alisson played once as far as I know
    • Milner ran the streets of Dubai!
    • Gini was in Paris for a break after playing all minutes of the two games but was involved in a lot of goals so might kickstart him back into form again.
    • Mane only played 1 game and 15 mins of the other, he was involved in a couple goals too to continue his goalscoring form.
    • Firmino started both games alright but was involved in one goal and scored another, I think Fabinho didn't play at all (both Brazil games were in Europe too so a lot less travel time).
    • Roberstson missed out on the long travel time to Khazakstan and just played against San Marino.
    • Henderson just played one game to get him back into fitness again, but looked good.
    • Lovren missed one game, but played the 90 in the other to get him some match fitness

Henderson also played 30 minutes against Montenegro.

This is one of the most curious things about Klopp's reign. These lads look promising but I've no idea if they're in his plans or whether it's this new trend of pimping youth players for a nice price that aren't go to make it.

You would think Wilson is nailed on for a chance next season but I've seen plenty of rag stories over the season claiming we're looking to cash in.

What say ye Mike? Do these lads have a future with us?

Wilson PL loan has been flagged but that could well be a shop window. Kane's rise has been sudden to me so hard to know.

So who did you used to be ;)

Yeah 2 year loan that we cut short after a season. I saw him play twice live that season in the Champions League and didn't think he was up to much.

Are we all pretty confident of beating spurs so or what?

No, they are going to hammer us. :P

I'm never totally confident about playing Spurs, despite our record in Anfield against them. But records are there to be ended, etc.

They were on a rotten run of form before the international break, which probably came at a great time for them. Wouldn't surprise me in the least to see them turn their league results around over the next few weeks - just hoping that it doesn't start against us on Sunday!

How are they set for injuries, etc?

Think it's going to be a weird game to predict.

First game back after the internationals, we don't really know how both teams will turn out. The international break probably came at the best possible time for them (also City too to be honest to get their players back fit). We played them after an international break earlier in the season and beat them comfortably in every way apart from the scoreline.

Definitely going to beat Spurs, they really aren't that great. More worried about the trip to Southampton.

This Spurs game will be strange, because we have to win,
Normally we do not HAVE to win against the big six but we do now ,

I'm pretty sure we have to win every game that's the whole idea of the sport.

Concerned about how the game went down last season where we ran out of steam after dominating totally in the first half - crazy 2nd half ensued with an absolute belter from Wanyama, Salah bail out and last minute dodge penalty from Kane.

Looking at the stats there, Spurs dominated posession (34:66) and had more chances but I like to think we won't be as porous in midfield as that game, we got utterly passed through time and time again that game. Fabinho, Hendo, Gini to start with Gini advanced given his current form with Netherlands.

I was at the game . we did not dominate at all ,

Spurs where the better team that day although they did not create any real chance they where in control for most the day ,

The killed us in the middle of the park , we where very poor ,

They made a mistake early that Salah gobbled up and then at bit of magic from him second half but bar that it was all Spurs ,

It was an odd game, no one really created clear cut chances but yet there was 4 goals and a peno miss,

Of course you Try to win ,but sometime you are happy to take a draw and not gamble on being beat but we can not afford any more draws ,

No, we didn't have to beat Bayern in the 2nd leg a score draw would have sufficed.

    Hopefully Trippier starts sunday.

    Mane will destroy him 1v1

I recall Spurs being penned in first half by a very high press, perhaps dominate is the incorrect word but certainly, the main point being made here is we got annihilated in midfield 2nd half

Bookies have is as strong favourite to win, which surprised me.

Spurs need points too, after being suckrd back into the top-4 race.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

They havent been great on the road this year, their recent form and the fact that most of their players were on INTL duty will have them not as sharp as our guys. (i hope)

I do agree about the midfield, Id have just said we where hanging in there first half but anyway we both agree our midfield was out played,

Hopefully with Fab and Goini playing so well that has changed,

Just on Tripper he had a really good game last year,He caused Trent loads of problems ,

Would they not have been on opposite sides of the pitch??

IIRC Dembele played hell that day, he was outstanding. He's not there anymore, and I don't think the likes of Sissoko or Winks are as good as Dembele was at his best. What's the sorry with Dier, he went off with a knock to his knee I think on Monday. Looked innocuous enough, but the type of a knock that can sometimes be a longer term/ligament injury.

Its the final run in now boys. PL or CL or both. This could be the dream season yet, I'm so excited to see how it turns out.
