    Hi,

I'm getting hive installed by Bord Gais and I'm wondering what needs to be in place for the installer.
I've renovated the place I'm in and installed a totally new system so no heating is running yet. I want to find out what work I need the current plumber/electrician to complete for bord gais so I won't be doubling up on the work done or leaving something out.

I've already contacted Bord Gais but the person on the phone didn't know and they wouldn't give me a number for an installer to ask.

Your plumber will have to have the system up and running, and all the wiring complete as if he was ready to install a normal timer/programmer (with how every many zones you have) the the installer will install the Hive receivers where the timer/programmer would have went.

When wiring the (assume s-plan) you plumber does not need to install any room thermostats, as the Hive wireless stats will be used instead (so your plumber should wire the system with the zone wire from the timer going directly to the brown wire of the motorised valve (would usually went from the timer to the stat and then to the motorised valve)

So essentially the installer is only installing a timer/programmer and the wireless stats, the plumber is responsible for all other wiring and fitting of motorised valve etc, and the wiring to the boiler.
