NCT emissions question

    Hi, hoping somebody can clear this up for me. I have a 2008 BMW E90 318i and it failed the NCT initially on emissions. Specifically lambda and CO on high idle. The limits in the initial test were Lambda (0.97 - 1.03) and CO (above0.20%)

    Mine was Lambda 0.96 and co 1.78

    However when I took it for the retest it passed but was tested with different limits on Lambda. Lambda (0.70 - 4.00) and CO (above 0.20%)

    This test my car was 1.69 (Lambda) and a CO of 0.00.

    Whilst I'm glad it passed, I'm baffled by the variance.

    Any ideas?

    For vehicles first registered on or after 1st of January 1994, the lambda value
    at 2,500 rpm or at the speed specified by the vehicle manufacturer is not 1
    ±.03 or within the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendation.

    Cheers – had a read there. It seems to be referring to rev speed rather than the value limits though.

    Maybe he just felt sorry for me and let it go.
