Haven’t posted here in a while and stopped following around page 90 or so, but just got an email might prove informative for some. Dunno if it’s been mentioned already. Email said they’re focusing solely on Dublin roles atm and will be looking to fill other positions thereafter. As to when that’s gonna he is anyone’s guess.

Yep based in Limerick here and got the email. IE apologising for the delay over 26,000 applications and said working on Dublin apps first then it's countrywide so still in the hunt.

Does receiving the email mean we are still in the process? Like they hardly sent out 26000 of those emails to people. Just think at this stage to get a delayed PFO would be bad enough form. I'm assuming yes because I asked them a few times and they seem to kinda have gone to painful lengths to not say no.

    Hi All,

Completed the interview on the 14th and passed the medical on the 21st. I only got the medical email on the 20th also, so very last minute. Do you think they would send you for a medical if you weren't successful in the interview. Would seem very unreasonable in my opinion to send someone for a medical after the interview stage if they weren't successful.

Im sure more people would be considered acceptable than positions after interview. It will likely depend on how they score people and from experience personality is a big thing in most jobs.

Did they estimate when they would give a final answer?

My point in question was why send someone for a medical, and require them to take additional time of work, if the interview wasn't satisfactory. Surely it would make more sense from a logistical and cost point to only send people for medicals if they were going to be offered a position.

To answer your question they said it would be a couple of weeks before I would hear anything back in regards to wether I was successful or not. Like previous posts, they said its at the one to one stage now so progress will be a lot slower.

    What stage are you at?

I agree if you were terrible then I couldn't see them sending you however could be there policy. They will (or should have) multiple candidates capable of doing the job once all interviews are complete so people could still be disappointed. Getting an interview for this type of job is quite an achievement.

Only did the two online assessments (non Dublin), applied more out of interest, not sure I would accept the job if offered.

There was a previous post a few pages back that explained the details of the interview. I doubt anyone else can go into any more detail than that for fear of jeopardising their own place

Has anyone who did the interview in the last few weeks heard anything back yet?

Take from this what you will. I went over the entire Garda Recurit process over the course of nearly 2 years, each stage, interviews/medical/physical/meeting super/Irish test and at the end, I was deemed generally unsuitable, was previously a Garda Reserve which is a pile of ****e, anyway me not going in hampered my application.

Point is, take nothing as a sign your in, only when you have signed on the dotted line then you are in the door. The approach they use is a bit of a scatter gun approach and not all the eggs in one basket.

I did my interview the other day and was told to expect not to hear anything back for a few weeks as the process is much slower at this stage - I was there for nearly 3 hours.

What was the interview stage like? I received the email from last week saying they were progressing Dublin candidates first but that regional candidates will be processed in due course.

    Thanks

Just going by the fire brigade, I was only given a medical after my interview, you only did the medical if you passed the interview which makes sense, plenty have passed an interview but failed the medical BTW (hearing, eye test) being the main reasons

Do you know this for definite or is it anecdotal?

I can completely understand people being reluctant to go into too much detail on this - I wouldn't want to disclose something that might give another candidate an advantage over me.

There were a few questions that I had not 'prepared' for, as in thinking about how I would answer them in advance.

If I get offered a position I will gladly discuss it freely at that point!

I can only speak for the fire service, but going by that failing on these things is quite common, colour blindness is more common then you might think

Had my interview yesterday, it went pretty well and they were all really nice and easy to talk to. Good luck to anyone doing theirs in the coming weeks.

I got the impression they're eager to start the training asap. They questioned my notice period (1 month) and told me the legal statutory minimum notice under Irish Law is 1 week, implying that I should be able to shorten the notice period if I was successful! Don't know about that, my contract says a month.

I had my interview a couple of weeks ago. Got called for the medical which I did this week and passed. So all that's left to do now is wait I suppose.
I also received an email asking to send on two references, which I did.
In that email it also said: Please note, it is intended to commence training class(es) very soon.....
Based on that, I'd guess they'll send out offer letters soon and expect people to start the training within a couple of weeks of receiving the offer.
Fingers crossed. It's been a long process to get to this stage!

Doing an interview in the next few weeks.
Kinda curious about the medical if somebody wouldn't mind giving info.
I'll be fine for BMI but my fitness isn't what it used to be. I understand there is a treadmill. Is it walking, jogging, monitoring heart rate, blood pressure etc?
Is the blood test a pin prick or full on needle? And what are they testing for there?
Colour blindness and hearing... is that about all?

Also just wondering if anyone interviewed and did NOT get called for a medical?
    Thànks

No treadmill / fitness involved whatsoever. They take height, weight, bmi, full medical history etc. Doc gives a once over; listening to chest etc.
They also check blood pressure, pin prick blood test for cholesterol, eye test, colourblind test, hearing test, urine sample, and an ECG.

My interview was longest I ever had, questions were fair and follow up questions were on point.
Medical was good, as above but I had to do the cardiac stress test at a different appointment.
Passed all and happy to say I start on Monday, training for the DART.
    Best of luck to everyone.

    Wow congratulations.

Could you tell us the rough dates between having the interview, medical and then hearing the good news?

Just a little concerned about notice period. I've my medical on Thursday.

I'll be starting on Monday with Mario...I had an interview on the Thursday and was asked to go in for the medical the following Thursday after only receiving notice the Wednesday before. Literally a couple of hours notice. The next week I was asked for references and the week after (last Thursday) I was offered to start on the 15th. My notice period is 8 weeks, but I was able to arrange something with my current employer. If you're there less than two years then statutory is only 1 week. Your employer probably won't be happy, but if they're anyway decent they should try arrange something with you e.g. work weekends or evenings. Depends on what your currently doing I suppose. Hope that helps!!

As Locodriver said, things moved quick. Interview, waited roughly 2 weeks, medical, a follow up medical, and day after that was asked to provide references... Within a week of that offered employment.
