I’ve no patience so I’d go with sat world for next day delivery

I think ill take a chance on it. I had asked Satworld about whether the Remote, On Screen Display and Programming Guide were updated on the latest model.as reviewers mentioned problems with them.

That thread was opened in 2015 and relates to cheap Chinese Boxes so I ignored it.

The thread name says "Android Box", which you are looking for, and has been posted on right through to today, so you really should have bothered to look there first....

Anyway, as regards your box query, I see that you've now made your choice. Best of luck with it.

Are we talking about the same iptv subscription thing here ?( previously m3u file sharing) My brother in law has a cap of 15gb of data and never goes over it.
I’m streaming 24/7 in my house but would be a mix of everything 4K etc, I’m close to the terrabyte every month

Yes we are. But like I said its a very simplified number. Size depends on a lot of things like true resolution, colour depth, frame rate, streaming/compression algorithm. Even the material itself. A cartoon will compress much better than high moving true colour real life material like a sports event for example. Also very few HD IPTV streams are of the same quality that you would get from a satellite HD feed, never mind 4K.

Just log onto your router and check the traffic stats over an hour with nothing but an 1080 stream running. The number won't be far off from what I said it is.

as for the mi box...ours was on android 6.0 and was awful, i'll be honest, cant even remember now but unresponsive a lot, reboots, chromecast was awful......but then the oreo update came and, for us anyway, transformed the box..no issues at all now..used more every day than sat box...between casting to it, built in youtube app, netflix and a couple of other apps all used daily, never an issue.

I was thinking of buying a Mi box. I want one for playing media files from my 4tb external Hard Drive, the usual Netflix/Amazon Prime/Plex apps, and maybe running Kodi. I do not have a 4K TV.

You reckon the Mi Box is a good choice for this? I won't be wanting to play any games on it.

Yes, I have one in the kitchen on a Hd Ready TV and it's doing the same job as the Shield I have in the sitting room flawlessly (no gaming). My mam gave it to me, she had it on a 4K TV and it struggled so the quality of the Tv resolution makes a big difference
