Have a hive ordered (against my better judgement I was favouring the nest) but they asked on the phone if we have a spare socket next to our broadband router.

Ideally I'd like to wall mount the hive in the kitchen which is well away from the router.. Is this possible does anyone know? We have WiFi Needless to say.

Hive comes with three items. A hub that is plugged in at your router, a thermostat that you can mount on your kitchen wall and a control unit that goes at your boiler in place of your current timer. This would be why they asked the socket question.

I know they're not always competitive but for anyone wanting to buy online and collect from a bricks and mortar store- Harvey Norman have 10% off everything until midnight Thursday.

Doesn't apply instore by the looks.

Have Hive and it's great, my friend had Nest and hates it! They'll put a hub next to your router, then you can put the thermostats anywhere you like.

What do you think chaps, worth purchasing? Less than €50 and it's compatible with Google Home so I wouldn't be too bothered about the app. I have Nest cameras front, back and in the toddlers room so this would be just for curiosity.

Would there be any reason as to why it wouldn't work over this side of the water?

You can mount the nest thermostat wherever you wany(once it can connect to WIFI), there’s a Nest homelink that controls your zone valves that needs to be close to the actual burner.

Thanks for tip, saved €50 on white goods, and the base price was lowest to begin with. One small niggle, you can't pay or redeem vouchers online, and in store wouldn't give the 10%. Still have a €50 voucher, but it won't eat anything.

As before, A Thermostat starter kit plus a TRV is £174 in total. A TRV starter kit plus a Thermostat is £164.50, so a saving of £9.50 if you buy it this way. Gas.

Hi new to this forum, doing a house refurb and looking for any advice on smart home devices for
Lighting and heating. Rewiring and putting in a new heating system.
Good technical forum for the smart heating, though it's quite long. Some of the contributors do go on!

    On Amazon until midnight.
    Yi home camera. 360 degrees.
    23.99 Sterling.

I'm not in the market but it does seem cheap.

    Not a bargain.

But for anyone thinking about it, I got the eufy 15c recently. Compared to the 11c at least it seems to be a bit more "robust" and gets caught a lot less. It's a bit of a tank. Not sure how it compares to the 30 but if you're considering the 11c I'd go for the 15

Homebase Limerick had one Philips Hue White Ambiance Ceiling Light at €55, but I got it for €40 as the dimmer switch was missing from the box. (it's on amazon at the moment for £120).

May be worth checking other homebase stores as the manager said they were getting rid of any Hue stock they had (no hue products left in Limerick though).

I got my 30C late last week, the plug adapter Friday afternoon, and I've been running it all weekend. It's surprisingly quiet, much more so than my corded vac, rolls confidently over the fairly prominent wooden sills in my doorways. I've had it upstairs, watched it detect the stairs and not fall down (relief!), and seems to run about 45 minutes on a full charge on the 'BoostIQ' power setting (variable - it tends to run on the higher, 2 cats, surprising amount of hair to pick up)

It has trouble docking with the charge station if it comes at it from the side (the station is so light that the vac bumps it out of place), but no issues when coming at it straight, which it seems to do most of the time.

Having never used any other form of robo vac, I can't compare, but will say that I'm pretty impressed with this one.

Only downside is that the main brush gets clogged with the cat hair and needs to be cleaned after every run, but not a big deal as I'm emptying the dust pan anyway, and the brush is so easy to take out, pick clean, and replace. Would definitely get some spare brushes and filters though and have them on hand. The manual recommends replacing these fairly often.

I'll be keeping an eye on prices and getting a second for downstairs (to save carrying this one up and down every couple of days) when it drops back to around €170 again (Amazon DE and ES seem to drop occasionally, hoping for something around Easter perhaps, always good deals going, but worst case Black Friday)

I put a couple of command Velcro strips on the back of my charging station and against the skirting board so it doesn't move about at all.
