Possible my power cord (not adapter) is dysfunctional?

I ordered a back up adapter, genuine HP as I got a replacement before and it nearly fried my battery.

So - it seemed initially the same problem was happening.

I have the original charger and it works 100%, no problems.

So I switched out the cloverleaf power cord leading into the adapter - and that resolved the issue.

Which seems super bizarre to me cause - I mean, how can a power cord be dysfunctional?

I ordered the cord from the same place I got the charger, on ebay - I think I paid 7 euro or such.

The original HP adapter was SUPER difficult to find; there's no end to the suppliers seller bogus "replacement" chargers, often passed off as originals - comment after comment in the customer feedback section giving it, "went on fire" - lol.

But anyways - adapters can be dysfunctional, I know.

    But power cords??

PS - can I get a replacement clover leaf power cord locally, in random electronics stores etc?
Or are they SUPER hard to come by also?

The other thing is, with the faulty power cord - it doesn't cause my laptop to malfunction immediately (the mouse pad develops a mind of its own).

But after about ten minutes with the faulty cord in, the mouse pad turns into a hopped up college girl on a power trip - i.e. impossible to control, doing random, impulsive, unpredictable things etc.

China uses 2 pin, no earthing. Europe uses three, with earthing.

Tenner says Mr Chinaman used 2 core cable internally so its not earthed.

Could using a power setup that causes minor mouse pad dysfunctionality - ultimately damage my laptop?

It sucks, cause I'm a perfectionist but - it's not 1/2 as bad as that bogus charger those indian merchants advertising through ebay uk sent me.

Here's a pic of the adapter.

At this stage - I'm not actually sure whether it's the adapter or the power cord.

If I thought it wasn't gonna damage my laptop - I'd put up with it.
