    Try that type of **** and then try and get insurance.

    Has that anything to do with the question in the op as to why fraudulent claimants aren’t prosecuted?

    When I take out car insurance, I am not asked if I have made any claims other than motor related claims.

    The penalty can be that insurance can be difficult or impossible to get. No insurance - no motor vehicle use. No loan insurance - possibly no mortgage. No house insurance - no water damage claims, no subsidence claims...

    Possibly lots of "penalties".

    Seen as this is the legal discussion forum rather than the insurance forum and “perjury” was also in the op, along with the link which indicates the claimant has been charged with fraud, my question is why there isn’t a legal penalty/consequence for making a fraudulent claim.

    Sorry, I thought that would be obvious. Being refused insurance isn’t a legal penalty.

    And I’m not sure how claiming I slipped in Tesco has any effect on my motor/house insurance. Also, what if I don’t have a car and my spouse takes out house insurance.
