^^Pretty spectacular. He's even got some reverb and delay on his hi hats and claps. And a snare roll complete with filter sweep!

Thought his kick could have done with a with 3-5db boost on the low end though...

I always have tried to explain what it is that sets Rave music apart from other styles, why i think t is unique, the closest i can come to it is this,

Music in general creates and stirs emotions in the listener, but when everything comes together right in a Rave, the lights, Sounds, People, Dry ice, time of day/night, the music itself can feel like it is emitting emotions through the sound system for you to absorb. Then it can begin to take you mentally somewhere that feels slightly beyond how everyday life/existence feels.

Dont know if that makes sense to anyone, here is a track that nails it for me, (Video is crap though)

I never considered all the different types music we danced to back then, 'rave music'. i mean... To rap all those different types and styles up like House and Techno and then call it a different genre?.

I did say it was hard to explain, let me try and expand a little further based on your above comment,

I put the electronic music that emerged and flourished at the start of the 90's into a category of 'Rave' music.

Within that you have (for me anyway), House, Trance, Techno then Hard Trance and Hard Techno.

That to me is the limitations of what i categorise as 'Rave music' and each one kind of fed into each other for me.

It is those above mentioned genres that I was trying to explain what i meant with in that original post, that they took on a different form for me in the right setting when in full flight etc etc.

Too hard to explain, i only know what i felt, perceived and understood from the music coming at me from the speakers in the Rave at the right time was unlike any other musical experience, i think it transcends mere music.

I used to get well peeved if someone called my house records ' rave music '.

Either way, the 90's were a great time to be a music fan.

In my opinion, i listen to tracks the same way i meet people.

People; Some are Good, some are bad, what nationality/religion/colour you are makes no odds to me, as long as i find the person sound.

Music; Same with music, dont really care if its from one genre or the other, if its sounds good to me i like it.

Love it, had the two Eye Q - behind the eye albums on CD years ago.

Pressure did an entire mix of Eye Q tracks way back.

I have both sides of it somewhere, (Side A and B from cassette tape)

Ed Case, from The Magic Roundabout, did a similar EYE Q tape years ago - all the classics.

It was the Mission Into Drums CD that I first heard though, but at the time I didn't realise it was the same label and same producers behind some of the later releases. Excellent album btw.

Trance had its hayday, from 98-2001/02, it went all downhill after that.
