What is the actual mileage on it?
The advert says 110,000 miles, but the NCT cert shows 148,889 when tested almost a year ago?

113,804 I've added pic of the mileage now.

I genuinely don't know how that figure is on the NCT, they must have ****ed up and tbh I never noticed til now.

At the time it would have been 106ish, which would as you can see be consistent with previous years.
I'm actually a bit pissed off now as had not noticed that before.

If they put km instead of miles on the NCT cert then 148889 km would be 92515 miles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,720 ✭✭✭Mad_Mike

That's what drew my attention to it, as it would have been a HUGE jump in mileage in a single year, so God knows what way they entered it when you got the test done

I'd suspect it was 108889 at the last NCT, and not 148889, but it's too late to change it now. It'll get flagged as being clocked if someone does a Cartell on it after it's NCTd next.

Its actually not - as a woman trying to sell a car is often hell on earth. Some Men carry on like you know nothing, treat you really badly and in some cases get very abusive with you.

I've had male friends advertise my cars for me in the past because of it. Funnily enough even though I wrote and took the photos for the advert - these sold better than when I had the exact same advert and answered the calls myself.

As having sold quite a few cars over the years I can't say I have dealt with anyone abusive whether they have bought of me in the end or not. Clowns and idiots who it would seem did not have 2 brown ha'pennys to rub together yes but abusive no. No call for it but if someone is getting abusive with you then hang up before it escalates and annoys you I would say.

From my experience buying cars whether advertised by a man or woman sometimes a woman would answer the phone and pretty much always when you would ask them about the car they immediately say hang on till I get him or he is out at the moment can I get him to ring you back later. As I recall the only woman that did converse with me was last time I was buying. A foreign national woman selling a Mondeo and she wanted €500/600 more for the car as I recall as the belts were changed since she placed the ad. She really should have had the ad updated for new price though if that was the case.

NCT is only till March, but will apparently come with a new ticket till 2020, tax to August, 2 owners, nice spec, decent engine - €1950

Pity its auto. Usually I wouldn't listen to the whole "will come with fresh test" line, but this ad seems very genuine so I'm making an exception. I'd love this

Looks great, I would never worry too much on the 'will come with a new nct' thing cos it either will have it or not and if it doesnt you dont buy it.
No cash handed over til you see the cert, if someone else buys it before that happens, let them take the risk.

Funnily enough I know the owner of that car. Fastidious wouldn't cover it, he is a car nut. It would be a great buy, only I am saving for a wedding I'd have it.

Tax & test till July, 1 owner, recent-ish belt change, I'd wager it is a good example - €800

What's the story with the Corolla?

What's the story with the Corolla?

    Mine?

Its this, picked it up in December after posting it myself in this thread

    46714880972_1f905fcfce_c.jpg

Its on 120k miles now, taxed till March, tested till July, has four very new Goodyear something-or-other tyres on it, just serviced (as in less than one thousand miles ago), timing belt done at 110k, 1 previous elderly owner who really cherished it.

Its a lovely car, and I really like it, but - and its a big but (:p) - I got rid of an A6 TDI for it, which is hardly a rocket ship with its 130 BHP, but the jump down in power is so frustrating even a month on. I also have two unresting, ceaselessly hyper springer spaniels with an unexplainable appetite for muck and water and sand. The A6 suited them and me down to the ground, loads of space for them without the hassle of dropping rear seats etc (it was an estate), and I didn't care how filthy it got because it was rough as a dog to begin with. I cringe a little bit whenever they jump into the back on the Corolla after a morning on the beach or in the park :o

Nice, wouldnt mind the auto myself, would prefer come up the years, to level out, it' need to be an 07 min, possibly still in bangernomics territory, need a boot, with a dog, just be getting anything too new grubby, mileage would concern me a bit, I think the 1.9 in this might be different (PD) to the previous pre dpf 1.9tdi? I'm wondering if my engine would fit, wiring connections and all? mileage is low on my own, best part of my car.

Im thinking, if I could get a clean car cheap and keep the engine out of my own, could just be hassle and cost probably. Would like something with utility but a bit nicer than octavia. Like the corolla, the 3 door googly light version grew on me years after they were out.

I think it's the same 130hp AWX. Mileage wouldn't bother me on those if serviced regularly. I have one off the road now purely because of a scruffy body and interior but the engine still runs like new after 205k miles.
Auto box is the one and only thing that would put me off that car, but if that was rebuilt recently...

Skoda is on for good money with a fresh test. No doubt a few will dismiss it because of the colourrolleyes.png. Bangernomics ain't for those with a highly narcissistic disposition anyway though. Me personally, I've grown too old and ugly to be worrying about car colours.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,575 ✭✭✭Rows Grower

The color wouldn't bother me in the slightest either but it looks a good bit overpriced considering the mileage, the age and the 673 euro tax.

I'm not a car dealer, but I personally wouldn't give that car a second glance at over 800 euro. Because of the tax it's going to be at least one and a half grand to drive it for a year at that price and I wouldn't think there would be a lot of people interested in buying it next year.

That's just my honest opinion, how much do you think it should be selling at yourself?

I suppose the owner has it up at €1250 thinking he'll be chipped €250 and get a grand for it, which isn't really off the wall.
