How big a nerd are you?

Someone told me yesterday that they were surprised I hadn't named my computer! I'm not that sad!!

..........Inevitably though I got to thinking what I would name it.

unimaginative sap that I am my first thought was to call it "Little Blitzie", but as penis extenions go...............

The next choice was a girl's name. I was thinking that saying "I was up all night with Jenny" wouldn't be too sad but the inevitable "Who's Jenny" would be!

So in the end I still haven't named my computer - nor do I want to. I'm still not that sad, thank god.

What would you name your computer?

P.S. anyone who says HAL get's a Darwin award

My computer is called Cerridwen, and I have a PGD file called Gwion.pgd that decrypts to a drive called Taliesin.

We have a server here called Mother, that I think is a good name for a server. Unfortuately it's a development server, Mother should really be the name of the PDC.

Server name at home is 'Enterprise', Lucutus obviously for my PC, 'Seven Of Nine' for the g/f's PC and new PC will probably be 'Stellar Cartography'.

My PC is called "Kirk". It used to be networked to Lucutus' machine when I shared a house with him. Mine was "Kirk", his was "Lucutus", another guy had "Sisco" and the laptop which was ocassionally connected was "Picard". The workgroup name was "Starfleet".

Sad enough, alright, I guess...

The network name of my PC was the only Star Trekky thing about it.

Currently, my machine is called Shodan; hard drives named after the different countries in Escaflowne; and I haven't thought up a name for the linux box or gateway yet, but I'm sure I'll think of something

I've a friend who works in a company where the main servers are named after planets of the solar system - he once forwarded me a memo which simply said, "There may be some disruption at approximately 3pm as Earth is being rebooted."

For some ungodly reason, my machine on our NT network in work is called "Florence". Everyone else's boxes have cool names from mythology, Lord of the Rings or some such... I inherited a PC from a girl who left the company and I get "Florence"...
