    The Road.

Based on the book by Cormac McCarthy. Post-Apocalyptic rather than Apocalyptic, I guess. The world is kinda already over by the time the film starts. So it's a pure survival story in the face of utter hopelessness. Despite staying very true to it, it doesn't quite capture the brilliance of the book unfortunately. But it's still one of the best films of last year imo.

Would you consider watching 'The Walking Dead' series when it's available? Not a movie but a decent series by all accounts. The few comics I read were good anyway.

I'd also add Vexille. It's a CGI Anime. Well done though. The premise is also very interesting.

Try Right At Your Door [2006].

"After Lexi leaves home to visit Central LA, there's a terrorist attack involving chemical bombs. After the attack, her musician husband, Brad, fails to find her and reluctantly seals himself inside his house. He will have to deal with this decision in the days to come."

    Here's some recent trashy ones.

    - The Happening

    - Carriers (made in 2007 with Chris Pine)

I know this is an old thread but I searched for ‘end of the world movies’

Anyone know what ‘other threads’ the op was talking about ?

If not I may open a new thread on this topic or just continue here.

I feel like I’ve unfortunately seen most end of the world movies there are to see.

There's a little known Australian apocalyptic movie called "These Final Hours".
Seen it a few months ago & well worth a watch if thats something your after, which you may not have seen before.

    Seen it. Enjoyed it.

I’ve spent years looking out for these types of movies.

I’ll probably list them all here with scores out of 10.

Hopefully some will be recommended that I haven’t seen yet.

There was a trilogy of books released a few years that I loved in this vein.

Book 1 was "the passage" (justin cronin) I believe it is coming out as a film later this year so one to watch out for.
Also on tv as a series , fox channel i think. Saw the first episode and very enjoyable.

Has anyone seen On the Beach?
    The book was great.

I didnt think birdbox was any good, didn't have high hopes for it, but seemed like a poor version of that film yer man whalberg was in a few years back, that was more suspenseful, id even say reminded me of something older. birdbox was bad, in a ridiculous way, annoying like Lost I thought. I like a good apocalyptic disaster film.
