    Running Windows XP Home
And when trying to change the attritbutes to archive I apply changes then go back and it's back to read only.
I've tried to change this with DOS aswell but to no avail.

    Can anyone help ?

    It's based just inside C:

Without trying to make you seem stoopid - Is it a file or a folder?

Windows Xp automatically displays all folders as read-only when you look at the properties, i'm not sure if this is only on a NTFS filesystem or not.

The folders aren't actually read-only though.
Check any folder on your system, you will see the same.

    Just a thought....

It's a folder and I know all folders are "read-only" but a program wanted to write to it and couldn't.
