Wow. So criticising what is clearly an idelogues wet dream of an ad is close to being a psycho? Did you get your psychiatry licence in gender studies class?
No, I got it at my homeopathy college.

I can guarantee you this guy was a redpiller, incel and all over 4chan.

The same kind of fragile egos that are crying about a Gillette ad with a responsible message.

You're being made feel guilty by an ad for shaving products? Excuse the term here, but man up.

i liked that ad tbh, bit long but it has a really good message
The "girls of tomorrow" part must have been removed or something, coz it deffo says "men of tomorrow" at the end.

That's all you need to know about that.

"fragile masculinity pfft, I'm definitely learning to knit this year. Looking forward to coding myself a jumper, and who knows what" :pac:

"We got my 2yo son a toy dog for crimbo, and my partner's brother accused us of emasculating my son just because the dog happens to be pink. When we challenged him he was all "err... I was only joking." **** off. Toxic masculinity is both real and so ****ing pathetic."

This soy boy's twitter feed is a delight! :D

I see what you mean but maybe we don't see his actions as too bad because in the video from my memory he is quite dishy and good looking people get away with anything but women get followed by all sorts of guys and unless Brad Pitt is following you down the street, it's not really such a good experience imho.

The person stopping him had no idea what the guy was going to say to her, and it would be fundamentally not his business anyway. Imagine being so presumptuous in western society that you would stop a free individual from approaching another, regardless of their gender.

Nah. No fragile ego here mate just a mild amusement at the hypocrisy of people on boards when it comes to these types of issues.

Jesus the state of some of these comments. Lot of insecurity here. Anyone who doesn't think toxic masculinity is a thing should spend some time at the factory I worked at for 5 years or sit in with the taxi driver I was unfortunate enough to catch over the Christmas.

The only clear thing to come from this ad and resulting thread, is that there's an entire generation of "men" who are anything but.

God be the days of real men using a blunt steak knife to shave and splashed the Brut on immediately afterwards for that bracing refreshing feeling to wake you up in the morning.

That's because there is no problem.

Just a group of people whose entire sense of identity is based on "manliness" and who foam at the mouth whenever anyone would dare to question whether traditional notions of manliness such as "boys will be boys" are actually a reasonable way to raise children who can be functional members of society that treat everyone else with respect.
Well at least that's a debatable couple of points but then you over rev the brain and go here...
Realistically the people who get worked up about this so-called "attack on men" are only one step removed from the same psychopath who kidnapped that 13 year old girl and kept her trapped for months.

Pretty much nail on the head there H.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Where's the 'boys of today will be the girls of tomorrow' line coming from?

Ad obviously says 'men of tomorrow' and I honestly don't see what the fuss appears to be about? Seems like a decent ad to me, although im unsure how it'll sell razors. More a 'this is our progressive stance' video, rather than advertisement. But again, can't see any issue with it. Maybe I'm lost?

The fuss is about how bizarre it is for a company that sells razor blades to make an ad about this subject

And its a load of preachy cringey generic sanctimonious ****e

If a gay man said or approached straight men, the way people think men should be allowed approach women there would be uproar.

Nothing wrong with calling out toxic masculine behaviour

Ah well look you can't explain everything in a 2minute ad or however long it is. Every ad just gives a suggestion of something and here it's to think for a minute about what the person who's at the receiving end feels like.

Anyway I think there must be loads of messages boys (and girls) get from society which are outdated and damaging to them and I would say that's the message from the ad - be the best you can be and not what you think society demands of you. These are questions rather that statements really.

I used to use my dad's Blue Stratos. If real life was a Marvel film, it should have given me a mustache with super powers.

I'm often interrupted by strangers on the street collecting money for some charity industry psycho CEO's bonus. Often it's a gauntlet, dozens in a single trip. I reject their advances as that woman is also likely to do.

Regardless if he was trying to tell her she dropped her phone, or if he fancied her and wanted to introduce himself. Both are legal and passers by certainly have no business interrupting.

Ever get a pushy chugger that won't get the message? Thats what attractive women face every day.

I dont think the street is a great place to tell someone they fancy them? Do you do it much? I never have. Seen hotties. Took a mental note.

Agreed, in this case it's a new message and a disturbing one at that. You should prevent folks going about their lawful business if you perceive a conflict with your ideology. It's the same message that the religious police in Saudi put out when they prevent men speaking to women they don't know in public.

So you can interrupt a woman, but a man cannot then interrupt you??? Sounds fair

I thought the law was women talking to men?

Gillette know what they are doing. The fact of the matter is most household purchases for food items, toiletries, etc are made by women and this ad is directed at them mostly.

For whatever reason, ads that make fun of or belittle men seem to work well with women.

Add to that, the cynical jumping on the metoo bandwagon for commercial gain, and you can see why Gilette came up with this sh*t.

By the way, these comments like "men are very easily offended at the slightest criticism of their gender", or men need to "grow a pair" or whatever is nonsense. If an ad like this was made about women, there would be uproar, and everyone knows it.

I am happy enough with allowing people to offend each other. People are a bit precious these days. But the fact of the matter is that its really only okay to offend one obvious demographic in particular. Criticism and offending any other demographic is not socially acceptable any more.

Does this still hold true though? I do the shopping about the same amount as my wife. Or we both go together or whoevers home first or whoever's out and about on a Saturday does it. Basically no ones counting, if she needs tampons god forbid I pick them up and she knows I use Gillette razors so she gets them rather than any influence from adverts.
In other news we both spent Sunday scrubbing the house.

First they came for the socialists...

You say no thanks and continue walking if a charity collector walks up to you and you don't want to donate to them.
Similar if somebody tries to chat you up.
If the person doesn't take no for an answer is when a issue arises!
