Mod note - Thread has drifted well off topic - while some chat is fine, we’re way off the intended goal of the thread here. Back to the recommendations please!

'Tried it on' .... Are you for real?
Did you read the details of some of the cases?

    https://www.vox.com/culture/2017/11/9/16629400/louis-ck-allegations-masturbation

Do the actions here sound like trying it on?
As you say off topic.... But to say the pattern of his behaviour can be described as 'trying it on' is utter BS. Would you like someone in a position of power doing some of the things he did to people to you or to someone you know?

Sorry who ye talking about? I can’t click on the link.

Netflix itself is recommending Killing Eve to everyone, despite it not being on any of it's services. Which is nice. :)

Louis Ck but it is off topic, so won't post here again about him.

I'm 3 episodes into the Marie kondo show really enjoying it, it's all pretty sensible but they have picked interesting and varied people to feature in it, a bit like the queer eye remake.

Is it maybe available outside of UK and Ireland on it? A bit like bodyguard is?

It's a disservice to call it a sitcom, it's 22 minutes of insane hilarity surrounding a gang of psychopaths.

It's in a different league than Brooklyn 99.

It's brilliant especially the middle few seasons when it was at its peak. Like Brooklyn 99 too tho, different kind of humour but once you get to know the characters it's pretty good. Watched every episode of both and love the 2 of them.

Nope. Hulu have it, as far as I know. It was the US Netflix Twitter that tweeted about it and people have been making a big deal about it all day because apparently it's not on any region of Netflix.

It is brilliant, by the way, for anyone yet to see it.

Finished Murder Mountain, can I recommend not watching it. It's like unwrapping a Christmas present to find an empty box.

I thought it was good. Detailed the goings on in murder mountain, the history of the place, the people who live there and the lack of any police presence in the area. Very much came across like the wild west.

It's a true crime documentary though so if you're waiting for the happy ending then you're going to be disappointed.

I could be wrong, but I think it's 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia'

I was expecting a story worth 4 hours of my time. First 20 minutes, all these missing people. Then nosedive. There are worse places in the deepsouth, they just don't have the Hollywood name. Think I could have read the whole story in 10 minutes

I really enjoyed it. The history of the place, how it looks now, all with the backdrop of true life crimes while getting to know some of the folk involved.
It was really well done and a break from the standard docuseries that have become popular.

Bit like my Christmas except instead of an empty box, substitute deodorant.

Anybody watching Perfume? If you like dark European drama, you'll like this.

Not finished this yet (I can't get through more than one episode in a sitting) but thanks for the recommendation, an absolutely stunning show

Watched Bird Box because I'd seen so much talk about it online and err.... I'm baffled why there's so much talk about it. It's fine for a b-movie genre piece largely based around the trope of survivors boarded up in a house but it's nothing to write home about.

Okay, I watched a couple of episodes of It's Always Sunny and I'm not sure I get it yet?

Is the acting not really bad?

It gets better, you could probably skip season 1 tbh.

Yeah 1st season isn’t very good

Thought Season 1 was very good. Took the Michael out of all the taboos - racism, abortion, child abuse. :)

Okay, I'll keep it up so.

My son keeps saying to watch Parks and Rec but I really don't like pure comedy, like a bit of drama in there to keep me watching.

TBH It’s Always Sunny... is probably the foremost example of pure comedy :pac: No overarching narrative beyond in-jokes and the gang seeing how far they can push the nastiness. I mean, it’s great fun, but it’s just terrible people being assholes to each other and those around them for 13 seasons in a variety of very funny, offensive and mean-spirited ways.

I adore Parks & Rec - it is straight-up wacky comedy, but it also has lovable characters and running narratives in a way It’s Always Sunny... doesn’t. Not to say it has much dramatic heft beyond a few sitcom-level storylines, but it has at least some semblance of actual character growth over the course of the series so may better suit your tastes!

^^^ To add to above... I just watched the Time’s Up episode of It’s Always Sunny... and laughed very hard indeed.

I just watched Split starring James McAvoy. It starts off weird and gets weirder. It's worth sticking with though until the very last scene and it's best not to Google any information about it before watching it.

Sequel out in cinemas later this month too.
