Seems like a load of fuss for something really simple; I mean rating football players is not exactly rocket sci...

    Trouble in Rangers.

Gerrard is doing a Jose up there blaming players for all the wrongs at the moment.

Liverpool midfielder could be set for shock Anfield return after deleting Twitter account

He has also unfollowed Rangers on Instagram after being left out of their squad for their Europa League clash with Rapid Vienna

I for one am amazed that a rookie manager signing 15 players in his first window at Britain's most disfunctional football club hasn't led to instant success.

The Edwards piece is a great article and a good quick read.

On the other hand, your Twitter nonsense with Rangers is utter tripe. The movings within Twitter should never form part of any discussion. Red top nonsense.

They just sent a loan striker back to Roma early, so it's hardly unlikely

Joyce has done a great piece on Michael Edwards.

Michael Edwards: the man who made Liverpool kings of the transfer market/

The 39-year-old behind innovative deals for Coutinho, Keïta and Firmino will be looked upon with envy by Manchester United on Sunday,

It speaks volumes about Klopp's ability as a manager that he is happy to work within such a setup. Conversely, it does likewise about Rodgers, particularly given how recruitment is his weakest area as a manager as his record at Liverpool and Celtic demonstrates.

John Park, the Celtic scout who signed Wanyama, Hooper, Ki, Forster and VVD, as well as a lot dross tbf left shortly after Rodgers arrived there, which reaffirms the impression of Rodgers given in the article. It's a shame really, as Rodgers is an excellent coach and appears to be a good man manager. It's bizarre he can't recognise his own limitation in recruitment and adapt to his betterment

It's now being reported in Scotland Ejaria wants out because he is fed up at the physical side of the game up there getting lumps kicked out of him every week.

i can see why Rangers would want him. I can't see what benefit it would be to either Liverpool or solanke though given there's likely to be better alternatives

Solanke would be better off going to a relegation struggling team in the PL or a top tier Championship team.

    Do we though ???

I don't think we need it from our 6,

Because our CB split and full backs push on we need our 6 needs to be a tackler and good at recycling the ball quickly and short, With the ability to cover ground quickly ,heading ability helps as other than the CB we are a small team. Sounds like Hendo and Fab doesn't it ,

Xabi had Masch for dirty work here, If we play a Xabi like player at 6 we need to change how we play,
Look at Jorghino at Chelsea the most Xabi like player you could find, He wouldn't suit how we play he'd make us more venerable because of how we set up

Dont agree with this analysis at all. How many tackles does Henderson make in a game? in terms of recycling possession what are his numbers like? I wouldnt say they are outstanding. And thats what we are aspiring to.

Busquets may not spray 60 yard passes around but he is one of the most intelligent players about, he has played that role his entire career.

Henderson is there by default, he has been shoe horned into the role. Anyone with a pair of eyes knows he is 1 of the positions we can significantly upgrade on.

Vision, anticipation, controlled agression and ability to pass the ball through congested midfield thirds, are all qualities we need in a 6, if we want to get even better. And physicality and speed over 25 yards.

Henderson goes from crap to brilliant, underrated to overrated but the truth is somewhere in between. He is honest as the day is long with great character but he 100% can be upgraded on. Someone with real authority in middle of field.

Ironically Mascherano would suit this side more than Alonso in that role. Quick across 20-30 yards, aggressive presence, and underrated in his passing.

He's playing for the most ill disciplined side in the league. Statistically, it's his opponents who tend to have the lumps kicked out of them. Maybe it's in training...

I agree. If Liverpool are to loan players to rangers, it would make more sense to do so in the summer, as they'd likely get some European football. Thayer unlikely to get much after Christmas

Badly needs a move in January, Crystal Palace, Huddersfield, Cardiff City and Brighton supposedly have strong interest aswell

I'd disagree there, to a certain degree.

Think he did well against Spurs away, and both games against Chelsea when on the field myself.

But agree on the playing against the lower teams but they are the teams we need him against more - possibly again this Sunday. Start him for legs, energy & creativity in midfield while still having the 3 in the middle, and then spring Shaqiri for 20-30 mins if needing another level again.
What position were you playing? :)

Souness, Roy Keane and Carra are the Sky pundit team for the game.

Neville must be on colour commentary with Tyler yippee.

Gerrard was a legend as a player, but there was always a bang of ego off him at times.

Doesnt surprise me one bit to see him deflect attention away from his own failings.

These former top players never cut it, most of them anyway. Always felt that they could never think deeper about the game or think outside the box outside of their own perspective on what made them individually successful.

Its always the former pros who didnt hit the heights or focused on coaching in earlier years who have the hunger to develop these areas of themselves to see a bigger picture, rather than just rolling up in a job and thinking your billy big bollix.

Gerrard is already getting frustrated his limited players are not tearing it up and its their fault every time. Its rookie error in fairness

You’re not going to get many arguments that we’d like to improve on Henderson. The issue is, it’s easier said than done. He’s been Klopp’s No6 since he walked in the door, and while Fab seems like the mid/long term replacement that Klopp has identified; he’s still picking Hendo. Many of the match comments here haven’t been kind to Fab either.
We’d all love to get the perfect No6, but there’s not many of them out there.

I fair don't want to go from Klopp to Gerrard.
Feel the latter is a bit like Roy Keane where he spends years at a big team and performing at a high level but then ends up managing at a lower level feels like a culture shock working with players who are significantly worse than themselves. Complains about refs and his own team a lot too. Both brought in basically a new squad in their first jobs too so those players are down to them.

He’s not finished the first half of his first season as a proper manager. Way too early to tell how he’ll do.

Usually takes a a good few years before you can see how a manager will turn out. Those early years will have ups and downs, it's how they develop after those years. Klopp and Rafa didn't start their managerial careers flying and from what I've read Gerrard has been doing a decent job for Rangers.

Klopp - seven years at Mainz, promotion to Bundesliga followed a couple of years later by relegation with the next season failing to get promotion and left with a 40% win rate. Was decent overall.

Rafa - after managing Real B he was sacked from his next two jobs after 23 games (2 wins) and 9 games (1 win). Next job got Extremadura promoted to La Liga before being relegated in their first season there. Followed by him quitting. Seems like a very rough few years for Rafa to start his career.

Poor domestically, but Celtic have been too. He's doing about as well as Caxinha in that regard.

Did very well to qualify for the europa, though was lucky with the draws. I doubt most would have heard of the opposition they faced.

Has done well too to still be in with a chance of qualification going into the last group game. He's in a group with Villareal, Rapid Vienna and Spartak Moscow. Bizarrely, each of them have sacked their managers already due to their poor starts.

He signed 15 players during the summer, a huge outlay for rangers and not really a tactic employed by more experienced managers. I don't think any manager can make much of a success initially with so many new players. Unlikely to help either that he's frequently criticising them publicly.

His side's discipline has been abysmal too, something like 8 red cards already.

From a Rangers perspective, his appointment sold a lot of season books and in qualifying for the Europa, earned them enough money to keep the lights on, so I'm not sure they'd be overly disappointed

Rapid just scored, so looks like his European travels are over....

Alisson's save percentage of 85.71% is the best in the Premier League. Last season, Liverpool conceded a goal every 64 minutes, the second-worst in the Premier League.

Obviously the sample size is considerably smaller for Alisson than his predecessors, but at the start of his Anfield career opposition strikers need 240 minutes to beat him. They score every 74 minutes against Simon Mignolet.

Statistically, the second-best Liverpool goalkeeper in the Premier League era is Pepe Reina, who conceded every 104 minutes.

No Liverpool keeper has conceded as few as six goals in his first 16 Premier League games.

Early days but Allison on track to concede less than even Pepe Reina

Christ, with back to back spells at Sunderland and Rangers, I wouldn't be surprised if he got put off this football lark altogether!

Rangers 2 points off the top of the league, near 2 ppg, top scorers in the league, 2nd best defence in the league and got to the group stages of the Europa league.....not sure how others view it and I dont watch them, or want to, but looks like Gerrards doing a good job.

I mean right now he's on course to beat Chelsea's record for fewest goals conceded in a season.
