Raiding the piggy bank a little with this chape-tax daysul i30

Advert says "t belt and water pump changed last month"

The 1.5 Almera has a chain (albeit prone to stretching) Also, why would a seller go to the expense of 250/300 euro for t belt only last month to sell the car for 1k?

Tax and test are suspiciously long..or blindingly alluding to a punter on a budget, so much so that they mightn't remember to inspect them for their authenticity.

If I have my bearings right, that estate in those photos is next to a halting site near me..

I was going to look at that a few weeks ago before I got the Corolla. Looks a bit manky but cheap in every respect, and versatile!

    No reg shown either!

Allegedly seller says it's taxed to October 2019 at 413euro per year, just NCTd and has had t belt and waterpump change (in a car with a chain)

All this is roughly 700 euro for a 1k car. Also NCT date was manually inputted by seller and not from database.

    Too good to be true!

Just trying to message Harry the seller and the message says that I'm messaging Brian, so seller changes names too!

Maybe the seller suffers from multiple personality disorder? :D

Sounds like yer man that does a runner as he checks the money, used to operate around Ashbourne, leaves the car with the punter , so commits no crime, tax and test turn out false.

    WARNING:

I messaged seller Brian/Harry and elaborate story that I was interested in car and I needed the reg to price insurance and to transfer. He sent back the reg 07D48848
    3 Previous owners
    Tax Dec 2018

....based on these inconsistencies I doubt the "timing belt" service history or 3 keys is accurate.

And he wants to meet at "his house" after 5pm in Dublin 11

Oh so it does. But tax is out this month and has 3 Previous owners.

Brian/Harry says he doesn't know why and that his wife placed the advert and got a few things wrong. He still hasn't corrected the advert. Also the "wife" explicitly writes that it's a one owner from new, and says that twice in advert. Funny then how it has 3 owners.

He said that he has everything and all receipts and he'll show me. This is all very suspicious!

Not sure how he got 9 months tax though. Seems too weird.

    Advert is still up

He says that they had to pay back tax and that's why it's 2018.

That makes no sense as tax it out this month Dec 2018, so no back tax and you can't buy 10 months tax.

Also after pointing out 3 owners He still hasn't changed advert. It has hallmarks of he enticing you to hand over money to test drive car then you realise car is shagged, or loads more miles etc and he's disappeared !

When asked him was he Harry or Brian he said "Brian Harry smith" lol

Decent car they are. I had a 04 Corolla hatchback up to recently and changed it for a 09 Auris. While the Auris is by no means a bad car the Corolla felt more solidly built than it and where that really seems to show is in the interior. At the money you can hardly go too far wrong with that Corolla and there is the bones of a year NCT on it. 155k miles on it as per ad though as opposed to 106k mile which you mentioned.

It's part of a longer text where seller won't allow test drives or looking at car without money in which he must check if genuine, before you look at car not to mine buy it.

There's been many a scam like this where money would be foolishly hanged over to check if genuine and he'd run away, leaving you with a ****e car not as described with no logbook.

Someone in the extended family is selling this. Very Clean 2005 Corolla, NCT is booked.
Kinda waiting on the NCT to price it more realistically.

Looking for something else altogether, and came across this in a dealers adverts.
Celica 190hp, those are the preferred models, I believe?

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/toyota-celica-2003-li-190-bhp-t-sport-model/20394691?campaign=6

Or a Beetle for under 500 euro, with a whole months NCT left?

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/volkswagen-beetle-2001-nct-01-19-490/20317174?campaign=6

Maybe it's the photos but that Celica looks to have at least 2 different shades of paint depending on which side you are looking at. Given the nature of a car like a Celica it could indicate it was involved in a smash and poorly repaired.

I know these are cheap cars but that Beetle just looks rough as a bears arse. Reality is that cars of that value being sold by dealers are just someone else's cast offs they bought for almost nothing. Of the two I'd go with the Celica but it's a bit like having a choice between a kick in the head or a kick in the balls imo.

Description can be read 2 ways:

Either "Drives well, Cheap" or the more likely "Drives. Well Cheap" :)

The 1 month NCT (from a dealer!) strikes it off the list for me. The lacquer peel then removes it from the "cars you would actually drive" category.

I wouldn't discount the celica until you see it in the flesh - paint at plastic/metal lines can often look dodge in photos.
