    For info, here is the rule on tiebreaks:

    Teams are ranked according to points (3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss), and if tied on points, the following tiebreaking criteria are applied, in the order given, to determine the rankings (Regulations Articles 17.01):[2]
    1.Points in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
    2.Goal difference in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
    3.Goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
    4.Away goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
    5.If more than two teams are tied, and after applying all head-to-head criteria above, a subset of teams are still tied, all head-to-head criteria above are reapplied exclusively to this subset of teams;
    6.Goal difference in all group matches;
    7.Goals scored in all group matches;
    8.Away goals scored in all group matches;
    9.Wins in all group matches;
    10.Away wins in all group matches;
    11.Disciplinary points (red card = 3 points, yellow card = 1 point, expulsion for two yellow cards in one match = 3 points);
    12.UEFA club coefficient.

    We'd finish top in a 3 team mini league with 6 points if we win and PSG draw (they and Napoli would have 5 points), hence we'd top the group.

    I'm sure The Turd has it noted what posters were for and against that signing, but probably best for you to come clean before you're called out on it.

    There is no need to bring another poster into it like that. There have been warnings, cards and bans and still it goes on.

    Please don't post in this thread again.

    Looking at our fixtures after we play City, they are very favorable right the way through, Spurs and Chelsea at home that's about the worst of it.

    I'm pretty comfortable saying he's the best defender in the world right now

    Yeah it's surprising he didn't go to one of the big teams.*

    *this is a joke please do not be offended

    Yep. Ridiculously well rounded with not a single weakness in his game. I still remember the shock when Liverpool paid 75m for a centre back. Absolute bargain and that keeper looks to be going the same way.

    I'm offended that you had to outline it as a joke tbh.

    We have always had good spines to teams, this one springs to mind

    Untitled.jpg

    We also had great midfields recently, coupled with that spine, making that one of my favourite squads in recent history

    Untitled2.jpg

    We have never, in my football memory (im only 35 so leave me alone) had this quality in defence, midfield, and attack. Fab and Kieta being yet unproven but I have no doubt they will flourish! Looking at kieta running is something special, just running, head up, control - he looks like a proper proper midfielder.

    I also realize there is only ten players on the field!

    I was never a big fan of Milner and wasn't enthusiastic whenever we were linked with him. Even now I can't shake the feeling he's not good enough to be in midfield. We can all be glad I don't make any decisions in relation to the club.

    Just reading there that Mignolet is taller than Alisson however Alisson is a giant compared to him.

    It also shows what self confidence can add to a player.

    I still can't believe Milner played an entire season as a left back and did it incredibly well.

    Is that your favourite starting ten at the moment?

    In other not really related to but kind of related to Liverpool news, poor Phil Couts is apparently not happy in Barca, the poor mite isn't getting a look in lately with Dembeles resurgence and isn't particularly happy...

    I wonder will there be "great sadness" and mysterious "back pain" in January....

    And he will probably end up at PSG or City...

    Was reading the Barca forum and the fans aren't exactly fond of him either....

    Realistically nothing will happen at all, but good enough for the shnake...

    It would be bad news if he moves as I don't remember anything about a sell on clause.I do remember we a fee depending on his appearances and Barcelonas success so 'go barca'

    Be hilarious to loan him back

    If someone told me 12 months ago our midfield would be better off without Coutinho in it i'd tell them they were mad.

    For all the brilliance he brings to a midfield and he does bring some, there's an awful lot of carrying to be done with him in it.
    Our midfield is more balanced now, + it allowed us to buy VVD, the best CB in world football by some margin.

    It's a tactic worth looking at. No one has been bold enough to try it before. Opposition manages will turn themselves inside out trying to figure would what we're up to. :)

    There was a chip from Shaqiri over players to Salah that was a thing of beauty in game.

    Just unlucky that Salah couldn’t hit it first time on the volley.

    He’ll probably end up at PSG when Neymar goes.

    Real bang of Fabregas off how that transfer is playing out.

    Meh, I can't say I've any ill feeling towards him at all really... I can't blame anyone for doing what they need to do to improve their own position in life - especially when it doesn't actually harm or hamper anyone in any way aside from footballing fans egos. Like, I didn't like when he left, but in the cold light of day I can't blame him for taking that chance when it presented itself - and whenever he was on the field, he still put absolutely everything in. He's certainly no more of a "shnake" than VVD was.

    Not really sure I'd agree with this... sure he does less donkey-work than Henderson or Milner or Gini, but he was no shrinking violet when played in CM. Dominated plenty of games from there, both in terms of nice fancy attacking play, and interceptions/tackles/pressing. He was a great man for haring into someone just as they took their first touch and niggling at their feet to win the ball back.

    Our first team presently is very much dictated by the circumstances of the upcoming game, so I can't say he'd be in every strongest 11 - but he'd be in plenty of them.

    I very much do have some ill will towards the lad, sure he played well while on the pitch, but he also faked an injury in order to jeopardise our Champions League campaign.

    Don't forget that transfer request... ;)

    I see he was "liking" that Salah got a hatrick also on social media...

    I'd still wonder how much of that was an agreed upon thing with him and the club both playing their part, to just keep the focus away from affecting things on the field. Same as whatever is potentially happening with Clyne to an extent.

    We would be in a better place if coutinho was still around. He was quality while at the club. Club got a huge fee for him and he always gave his all while on the pitch.

    yes - i did say there were only 10 on the pitch, throw in shaquiri in the hole i'd be very happy!

    I’ve no ill will towards Coutinho. Got him for a bargain, he was really good for us; we helped him, he helped us. Got an amazing amount of money for him that bought Allison and VVD, great deal.
    I think we played some amazing football with him in the year we came close to winning the title, and his second last year.
    But I think his best football was with him in the front 3, not mid. He would have been a great option to replace the injured Salah in the CL final.
