You only missed out once so the old system served you well.
I always got tickets for matches and they were usually decent tickets

Its rubbish and its completely open to abuse.
The IRFU should be looking at the amount of tickets they give to corporate and travel agencies ,there is a massive hole in their distribution system feeding resale sites like Viagogo.
10 and 12 seats in a row in sections ,farcical.

And have you evidence that this goes unpunished by the IRFU?

How do you know that a clubs allocation hasn't been reduced or anything? Are you in the know about any corporate or sponsorship deals that have been taken away because of where the tickets ended up?

In fairness, I've been brought by a company to two matches (by luck and virtue of being a new employee who works with this company) and both times the names on the tickets have been rugby clubs so were clearly resold to the corporate and likely through an intermediary. I'd rather have no tickets go to corporates and take my chances on public sale.

The whole system is a farce and now certain supporters in the supporters club (especially those who are there long time) are getting completely shafted by this change.

Anecdotally I've never heard of anyone getting punished. That doesn't mean they haven't been but I've never heard any stories.

I have heard of at least one AIL club who lost a season's ticket allocation after a ticket allocated to them was found to be touted. I know of a junior club who met the same punishment for a similar offence.

I Know that tickets are going on sale for 6N tuesday for supporters but does anyone know how likely they will put some for general sale aswell on that day or would they tend to do that a different day if they were to sell general sale atall

Wont be a general sale. All tickets are oversubscribed in each area - clubs, supporters club etc

Hi All, I'm hoping to get 2 tickets for Ireland v Wales in Cardiff next March.

I guess I'd describe myself as a casual enough supporter, while I watch all the matches I only go to maybe 5-6 Munster / Ireland games a year. I'm not a member of a club or joined any supporters club etc. What would be my best bet - I'm guessing there will be no general sale to the public so is paying way over the odds on Viagogo my only realistic option or would tickets pop up around Cardiff the weekend of the match? Could people share their experience with me please.

If you book a package with one of the companies like Killester travel you can get tickets included. If you’ve alrwady sorted your own travel not sure what it’s like.
Same boat here but for Edinburgh, always got them on public sale for last number of years, not looking good this year! Boom is back baby!

Travel pack does seem the best option. I see Killester are doing same day travel but it isn't cheap.

    Do I have this right?

If you're a supporters club member, you do absolutely nothing until you get an email on Tuesday saying whether or not you've won tickets.

And if you have, they'll provide you special log in details to pay for them?

Am I in the ballot by default?

You are, Here is the relevant text from the email I received from them

All existing memberships active as of October 1st 2018 as well as any new members who joined between October 1st and December 5th will be eligible for, and entered into the draw for Ireland’s home games against England and France.

If your membership expired on or after October 1st - you are eligible for the ballot.

If you took out a new membership between October and December 5th you are eligible for the ballot.

If you joined or renewed at any other time in 2018 - you are eligible for the ballot.

Grand job, it just seemed a bit odd that we literally do nothing until we're told if we have tickets or not. The Leinster lottery was a bit busier.

I haven't heard anything yet. Do you get notified if you're unsuccessful?

Got offered chance to get two tickets for the France game.

    Got an email

    Dear Supporters Club Member,

Unfortunately, you were not successful in this season’s ticket ballot for the Six Nations.

Every year we endeavour to give as many members as possible an opportunity to purchase tickets when they are available. As we outlined last week the ballot was the fairest way to allocate tickets this time around due to the unprecedented levels of demand.

In the lead up to Rugby World Cup 2019, Ireland will play Italy and Wales in Aviva Stadium as part of the Guinness Summer Series. We hope to provide you with an opportunity to purchase tickets for those two games in the first half of 2019.

Thank you, as always, for your support of the team – at home, on the road, in Aviva Stadium and online.

    The Supporters Club Team

    Unsuccessful :mad::(

    No joy here either
It didn't mention any particular game so I assume I'm unlucky for both

    Wife also unsuccessful

Both members for 12 or 13 years now

As discussed we are now basically in a situation of buying 50 euro raffle tickets

What a load of utter bullish!t.

Didn't get lucky myself on either of mine or my other half's account. So much for all that support over the years when they weren't so popular. But thank god the corporates and blow ins are being sorted out.

Just have to lean on corporate connections now which is nonsense that I have to do that.

    I wasn't successful :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,435 ✭✭✭crisco10

not successful here either. A little frustrating to just be locked out so abruptly - could well be cancelling membership after ~10 years. I just don't understand why they didn't at least make people opt in to the draw. i.e. put in a little work!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,238 ✭✭✭✭Diabhal Beag

Not even got the rejection email ffs.

All I'd ask for (and I'm full sure it will never happen) is some transparency.
X number of members in the draw for Y number of tickets.
X is obviously greater than Y.
But say if Y = 20X then that's a 5% chance of getting a ticket and most certainly not worth the €50 raffle entry fee.

Would love to know what X and Y really are.
I won't be renewing my membership unless these are revealed. (and maybe not even then!)

Yeah it seemed pretty rushed. I wasn't sure why they didn't get people to opt in and opt in for specific match. Presumably some people could make one over the other.

I'd be curious how many members there are and how many tickets are available. I'm only in the club a few years (so wouldn't expect to get a ticket either way) but think favouring people who are here the longest would probably fairer than random draw.

No luck here either. Was good while it last over the last 7 years. Even the World Cup ballot didn’t go the right way!

I agree, and have just posted something similar over on another thread. But like yourself, I don't expect X and Y to actually be revealed anytime soon....
