It's as if he's trying to get the sack at this stage.

That’s what I initially thought and looked at the bench. Pogba and Lukaku deserve to be dropped and while on paper they are stronger I think it’s a good call.

Mata is the only sub but I’m happier with Lingard and Martial so it seems like injuries and the form of players was a factor.

Also , we don’t know how players are responding to the carnage so if Jose is not intentionally sabotaging the team (which I don’t think he is TBH) then it’s the team he felt has the best chance. The closer to kickoff the more irrational optimistic I usually get only for that to be dashed after the first few minutes into
    The games!

That lineup is hilarious, a massive two fingers to Woodward

    Really don't get this tbh.

If Arsenal have anything about them I think they can beat this team even if we play well. Its 5 at the back (never 3 with Jose) so we will be punting it long to strikers who will be knackered come half time running around like headless chickens.

I wouldn’t put it past Pogba and Lukaku being subbed on and making an impact though.

Good to see Pogba dropped,he has been a disgrace and has gotten far too many chances.

I think you are right but I’ve thought that a lot of games this season and it’s not happened yet. I mean only spurs have given us the hammering we didn’t get against Juventus, Chelsea and City.

I’m only disappointed he’s on the bench. I wonder is there some clause in his contract that he has to play.

It'd be a bit drastic to drop him from the squad.

As bad and aĺll as our defence might be at full strength this is really bad, rojo hasnt been seen since last year, dalot is still young and not up to speed in the league, darmian who isnt deemed good enough to play rb is playing lwb, baily been really poor this season and to lead them all we have smalling.

I mean i know its all we have but it looks bleak

I don’t think we will be hammered, I just don’t see us causing them much worries as we will spend most of the time defending on our 18 yard line in fear of pushing forward and opening ourselves up for a hammering. There’ll be 5 defenders and Matic & Herrera sitting between the 18 yard line and the 25 yard mark from goal. The bus will be parked.

Is that the two most expensive signings in the history of the club sitting beside eachother on the bench?

Chris Smalling and Ramsey captains, a long long way from Keane & Vieria.

    Miss them days

Both teams hugging and kissing in the tunnel  Makes a big change from the days of Keane and Viera :D

Probably as many as he creates all by himself. I can tolerate his fumbles as long as he puts in the effort we expect from him.

I figure United are kicking over midfield today with so many defenders and fast forward line.

Maybe. I suppose I’m so disillusioned with that player I’m worried at the thought of him coming on when we need him to help us get back into the game. As much as I dislike him, anytime he plays I hope he proves me so wrong !!! I’d love to be coming back here later after seeing a Pogba masterclass !

Hang on, are three of the four most expensive signings ever made not in the team?

I hate to break it to you but Di Maria moves to PSG a few years ago.... :pac:

Good start so far, attack looking good with the movement.

Really looking forward to see how Dalot does although he is only up against a mediocre Iwobi.

Started well. But, United are doing that thing where things look different and you get your hopes up that things have finally changed.....

... then after 15 minutes we are back to slow moving boring football.

For arsenal at home there is a lot of empty seats

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,306 ✭✭✭✭Drumpot

Really good start. I’m liking Dalot.

Don’t concede a silly goal. Confidence is so fragile we need the first goal and to keep momentum...

Don’t care how good bad or mental he is but I love Rojo in the team.

    Transitioning so much quicker

I would love Lingard Martial and Rashford to all get a goal tonight and for Jose to just play this system regardless of opponent.

No real problems with the starting line up with what is available.

I hope if Jose really is sending a message to Pogba he keeps him benched for a prolonged period and not just reinstate him next game, therefore continuing his theme of sending mixed messages to players. Also not buying the "he'll be pillored for not playing Pogba if we lose." There is no real groundswell of support for Pogba, just a realisation that Jose hasn't been able to get the best out of him. And if Jose does cave to public and media pressure it doesn't speak of a strong character or someone who is really going down fighting.
