so you are telling me Aidan Walsh is Cork hurlings future? thats fine but dont expect Cork to be winning any All Irelands with him on the panel.

    Lost 2-12 v 2-13

Fantastic effort from them, given how they had no chance at all of winning v a Kerry team.

they should have won it. Beaufort aren't the team that everyone said they were.

Do Dromtarriffe have any hope against Beaufort of Kerry in the Junior Munster Final? Beaufort are one of best teams to come out of Kerry in a while and nobody is giving Dromtarriffe a hope. They aren't anywhere in their league but nobody ever knows what can happen. Beaufort by 7.

Dromtarriffe will be well beaten I feel. Beaufort are a different class. Beaufort played Dr. Crokes earlier in the year and were narrowly beaten. I reckon Beaufort will win this game in 3rd gear. 10+ points. Dromtarriffe have nothing to lose and should just give it everything because they won't get this chance again. They should go out as if there life depended on it.

Indeed - Churchill, though an improving team, should have beaten them in the county semi.

Not as if he has just been named to start on a championship team.
Called on to the panel to train with the team and earn his place, same as the rest. Commitment levels are massive, if he makes the panel it will be because he has earned it and deserves it. Fair play to Meyler for being open to giving lads a chance and not shutting the door

It's poor if Cork havent got any better hurlers than Aidan Walsh at their disposal. Sounds harsh but nothing better than the truth. If we want overrated players on the panel thats fine too but dont be expecting All Irelands to land our way anytime soon.

still though they still lost and that does not improve the record Cork clubs have on Kerry clubs in the club championship. Its a game Dromtarriffe will have regrets about. If they held on today they would win the All Ireland fact. Beaufort will win the All Ireland now as the standard of football outside of Munsters two isn't anywhere near that.

Walsh is a leader and a warrior, always space for that in a squad.

never saw it in a Cork jersey. Alot of cork posters on here are happy enough to accept 2nd and 3rd best. They are happy to go with panels that arent up to the job. Thats why Cork wins nothing as of recent times.

People seem to still be clinging on to his U21 performance vs. Limerick what, eight years ago? He's barely senior club standard not to mind inter county. Nice fella by all accounts but I'm disgusted to see him in the panel.

100% you hit the nail on the head there. He's a nice guy but definitely not Cork senior hurling standard. He played unbelievable v limerick in the u21s back in 2011 but never again have I seen that performance from him club or county. Galway made him look below average in 2015 championship encounter. He is too casual as a hurler and not at the standard needed to be intercounty standard. Plenty of other hurlers in the county that should be given a shot.

Lads, its a training panel in December, not the first 15 for an All Ireland he's been picked for. Meyler is right to look at as many players as possible. If he impresses, great, if not then no harm done

He’s one of probably about 40 who’ll get a shot over the Winter between challenge games and Munster League. Tons of lads played these games last year and weren’t seen again. I mean, you must have a pretty low bar if you’re “disgusted” by that.

Out of interest, who? Don’t forget that some of last years 21s and the minor team the year before have been called up also. I struggle to see anyone who’s being snubbed here.

To be fair to Meyler he's given a go to plenty since he took over. The majority who are standing out at club level have got a go, there isn't any others to stick out to me

Yes and rightly so. What I am saying is Walsh has been there before and he isn't up to the standard required. FFS can ye not see that or am I talking to myself here? If he is on any Cork panel then we are going nowhere come championship.

Its not Walsh's first time with the panel. You either are good enough or you are not. He isn't going to improve good enough to be inter county standard. Waste of a trial if you ask me. Some of you guys on here really don't get it.

2 big games down for decision this weekend, juniors out tomorrow.

My local team have gone from winning the county title for the very first time all the way to the All Ireland Final in Ballinasloe. Managed by Dave Carey, grew up playing for the Barrs , they really have gone from strength to strength and will surely give a very good account for themselves. I've said in the past that Glanmire are the sleeping giant of Cork Ladies football and I fully expect them to be challenging at senior level before too long.

Then the Cork v Dublin rivalry rears its head again, on tg4 at 5.15 as Mourneabbey take on Foxrock, should be a cracker.

Best of luck to both teams.

Imokilly destroying senior club hurling in the county should piss people off.

Cork senior hurling has been in a bad way for a good while before Imokilly have gotten strong.

It’s a catch 22 because on the one hand it’s great to give young lads like Spillane, Will Leahy, Ger Millerick etc. experience at a higher level but at the same time it looks like it could be domination for a while with this team.

It would be better for my club if they aren’t allowed play, but not sure it would be better for Cork hurling. It would seem a bit petty to change the system because they’ve gotten a freak group together at the moment.

The Glen have 25 odd county titles while the total for ALL divisions is 8 in 130 odd years. Atleast the divisions use Cork players, colleges are a much bigger issue imo.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,075 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Great start for Mourneabbey, 0-7 to 0-1 after 1 min.playing with a strong breeze so need to keep the foot down and drive on

A proper Blitzkrieg performance in the first 15 mins of the half as they lead at ht by 1-12 v 1-03

Playing with the elements, their direct running and a real dynamism in their defending, has seen them perform from the off. Some truly awful kick outs have put Foxrock under pressure with 1-02 coming from possession easily attained. A real pity they conceded a goal straight after scoring one.

Expect a comeback in the second half but they are certainly in the driving seat.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,075 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Doing well keeping Foxrock out but have hit the bar twice when points would do and dragged a penalty wide. 1-12 to 1-4 after 45 min

    All Ireland Champios !!

    1-13 v 1-07

Delighted for them, having lost a few finals, no one can say they don't deserve it. Their big players turned up, Foxrocks stars were never allowed.

Some fantastic long spells of possession in the second half was key to their win, Foxrock couldn't score without the ball. Really unlucky with the 2 efforts that came back off the bar and a penalty dragged wide, which would have cemented their win much earlier.

The better team doesn't always win, but they certainly did today. Defiant defending and direct running by the forwards in the first half and equally staunch defending and possession football by the forwards prove enough for the girls from Mourneabbey.
From the outset, you could see a determination in their demeanour and their play that was not going to be quenched.

A day to forget for the Dublin girls, one to savour for the Cork ladies.

Outstanding game from Doireann O'Sullivan sees her gain the player of the match award.

Deal with present reality not the past. Imokilly pissing on club sides is good for the senior club player how? Next y r when they walk it again it will be 3 in a row. All star intercounty panels backboned by 6 premier intermediate sides. Cork U21s on the bench. FFS you have to go back to the Glen side of the 60s, The Rockies of the 70s and Barrs of the early eighties to see sides this strong.
