"Did you do much over the weekend?"

How do you handle this question if you haven't done anything? Because when I've answered honestly it's just an awkward dead end with the conversation!

With me, it's often the case that'd I'd have had a very interesting time doing solitary activities. But that would sound boring to talk about. I often search my head thinking "hang on what did I do?" and then think to myself "well I can't say that". You need to be able to say "Oh I went to the beach" or something.

No matter what I did the answer is always 'nothing' so it ends the conversation there and then so you don't have to hear about what they did.

They’re usually more interested in finding an excuse to tell you what they did.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Say "I did loads of solitary activities" in a real pervy/sinister tone of voice.

    That'll learn em.

Thats always my classic rejoinder. I work irregular hours so weekends, bank holidays etc mean nothing to me.

Start off with a long inconsequential monologue featuring irrelevant facts and useless bit of info in great detail.

    You won't be bothered again.

Work was where I used to recover from my weekend
Now the weekend is where I recover from my work.

I have spent 70% of my weeekend on the couch Watching a good show on Netflix called Rake.

This question comes up in work every Monday.

If I haven’t done much I usually say “ah I took it easy this weekend! Very chilled. You?”

I find it puts a nice spin on the fact I did nothing..

I'd rather that question than the usual question put to anyone in the break room, "Anyone watching I'm A Celeb/X Factor/*insert mindless reality show here"

Tomorrow morning, I will be asked this exact question by an American colleague at 7.45, same as every Tuesday, and I'll respond the same as I always do. "Fck all."

She does a lot so I just pass her the mic.

I usually say “not much because I was soooooo tired after working all week".

Just say "oh, the usual". It kills the conversation stone dead.
And the 'usual' might be R rated or U rated.

ITT: People who do nothing over the weekend and hate talking to people.

When i was younger and more willing to impress others, I was very worried about being asked this question, because the majority of my weekends were spent chilling out, watching movies or the very odd time catching up for a drink with a pal. I live a solitary and quiet life. Now im older, I just say it like it is, so my answer is "Not a thing, bit of Netflix and here were are Monday again". The replies are either a nod and then we move onto something else or sometimes people will give an uncomfortable disapproving nod as if to say "I think its weird that you did nothing".
So in essence the very thing I dreaded from others years ago (them thinking I was boring for not doing much) turns out to be 100% true for a lot of people, in that they DO think its odd. What has changed though is you care a lot less when you get older. Theres absolutely no point in making up lies to impress people.
