Hi Guys, I just got an email from Netflix saying there was a new sign in to my account in Sweden today. And telling me if this wasn’t me to change my password. It wasn’t me but how do I know the email is legitimate?

    Should I ring them?

First thing to do is don't reply to that email and change your password.

Are you using a VPN by any chance?

Delete the email, but in your account you can view what access has been made at https://www.netflix.com/AccountAccess

So if there was any access from Sweden, I'd imagine it should be listed there (just checking my own and it lists geographic location). Still wouldn't do any harm to change your password, just in case

Just got another one now saying I signed in in Louth, I’m in Cork. I’ll change my password thanks.

I would change mine just to be safe.

Don't reply to the email and delete it.

Thanks I went into my account and changed my password. Didn’t reply to the emails.

You can also "Sign out from all devices" in your account too; I presume changing your password will dump out anyone already logged in - but just in case it doesn't , I'd use that link too.

Could be something as simple as a new IP address being used that was previously assigned elsewhere. Easiest way to check is go into your viewing history and see what was watched and logged against Sweden and if it was something any of your profiles would watch.

If you signed in recently, relax and enjoy watching! But if you don’t recognise this sign-in, we recommend that you change your password immediately to secure your account.

I get the above email anytime I sign in from a different region and sometimes the locations don't always match, like I could be accessing the US library and the email could say the login was Australia.

Just check your viewing history, should clarify things pretty quickly.

Do you use a VPN? Hola in the browser or something like Nord VPN? Do you watch Netflix on a work laptop on which you use a work VPN? Have you shared your account credentials with a family member or friend who may use a VPN?

Any of those actions can trigger such a notification from Netflix. You can check your account activity in Netflix account settings, no harm changing the password anyway.

No I don’t do any of those things. Just watch Netflix on my laptop at home and have it on my iPad aswell.

    Edit: you already did

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

I just watched Shirkers and really enjoyed it. It's got a pretty big caveat in that, if the style of the film annoys you in the first couple of minutes, there's no real point in persisting with it. The missus dropped out halfway through but I found it a fascinating watch with an ending that really resonated with me.

Do you need to have watched the first season?

I don't think so... but the first season is very good.

I wouldn't recommend the first season at all. Thought it was terrible.
Unless the second is very different to the first, I wont be watching it.

First season is hell of a lot better than the second. I found the 2nd very predictable.
