Outlaw King bored me senseless. Totally uncinematic story told in the most technically and stylistically bland way imaginable. It's amazing how much money went into this ($120 million!!) yet it still ends up feeling like a tv movie. The director seems to have prepared for it by studying Game of Thrones episodes.

I enjoyed it as it was something new to watch.

I really didn’t like the number of actors cast from Game of Thrones, it really makes it difficult to get sucked in when their recent GOT roles are so fresh in your mind.

Agreed though, €120 million for that BUT I also appreciate that Netflix is delivering well produced content on our dime unlike, say, RTE which costs me the same per year to watch Keith Barry fail miserably on The Late Late Show.

    Watched forever my girl

Complete ****e and I loved it.

Il make no apologies for it

Loved it too. Soppy romance and predictable but just something so nice about it.

Would you need to have watched the first few series or does this series almost start from scratch again? I've heard season 3 is great but I watched a good chunk of series 1 and it didn't capture me much

You absolutely need to have watched the first few series.

I thought it was very average; I couldn't figure out if it was the way the character was written, or Chris Pine's acting, but Robert the Bruce was completely lacking in charisma, very dull and bland. Without a good central character, even the action scenes were very flat.

I agree. I watched series 1 a few years ago and gave up, don't think I finished it either.

You could watch it as a stand alone series, but there are bits of info you would miss out on and I wouldn't really recommend doing it.

I'm jealous of anyone who hasn't the bug, go back and continue season1.....then 2....then 3.....then 4.....then be like the rest of us who cant wait for 2019 :)

Watched Outlaw King last night. It was grand, hoping for more but watchable.

To an extent S4 does stand alone, but towards the end it ties in some of the previous plot strands.

But to be honest, although I enjoyed s4, you must must must watch the previous episodes, especially Keeley Hawes as DI Denton is series 2, in my opinion the standout series of the lot.

I tried season 1 a few times before finishing it, its not great. It only gets better from there, way better.

I've just finished all 4 seasons of Line of Duty too. It's a classic case of a show improving as it goes along. It really does get better with each season.

I found myself nitpicking loads of stuff early on but eventually I found I wasn't doing that any more. Eagerly awaiting season 5 now!

Absolutely right. As with all the Jed Mercurio stuff (Bodyguard being the latest example) you just need to go with it.

Line of Duty was so good because you became invested in the characters.

And those relentless interrogations..and the many wtf moments.

I’ve watched all the seasons of Line of Duty but but there’s such a gap in between seasons I can’t really remember what happened, all I know is I did think it was brilliant while watching it.

I really want to rewatch it all before season 5 but I don't want to do it too soon in case I forget again, hopefully it won't leave Netflix before then

I like a bit of Telly myself. I'm not sure how Line of Duty stayed off my radar. I watched all 4 seasons on Netflix recently, based on the recommendations of many on this thread.

Have to say, thank you to one and all. Absolutely brilliant TV and the suspense at the end of each episode is jaw dropping.

Really looking forward to Season 5.

Line of Duty usually gets shown on BBC & then around a year later goes onto Netflix iirc.

    Great show.

It's funny, I'm not sure if I've watched a BBC/C4 show when it came out with the exception of peaky blinders but there are so many brilliant UK shows on Netflix..to name a few:

    Line of duty
    Unforgotten
    The detectorists
    Top boy
    Happy valley
    Black mirror
    River
The end of the f**king world
    Inside no.9
The thick of it (had never heard of this until recently, it's hilarious)
    Luther (had seen this elsewhere)

I think I only made it through about a season and a half of Luther. I just don't get it's appeal. It's not bad, as such, but it almost feels like a parody at times the way Luther carries on. The swagger he walks with too makes me laugh. I thought he was going to fall over a few times in one episode.

If you like The Thick of It it's worth watching the film they made after the show called In the Loop. It's the same characters and everything.

Something that always annoyed me is that the only actor playing the same character is Peter Capaldi. It does feature most of the other actors but playing different characters meaning that I never know whether to count it as canon or not. Definitely worth a watch though.

The Trip is also on Netflix and it's very good. Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon playing fictionalised versions of themselves.

I actually never realised that. I didn't watch much of the show and just asssumed since he was Tucker that everyone else was the same too. Very funny film though. Some one told me Anna Chlumsky's character is the same one she plays in Veep too but not sure if that's correct either.
