Do you take baths. Do you even have a bath?

It seems that over the past decade everyone is ripping out their baths and replacing them with big showers with drencher heads. Whilst that is all fine and dandy, do you not miss the occasional bath in which to de-stress and soak those aches and tensions away?

I have a bath with a shower unit and I just could never get rid of the bath, as although I dont use it very often it is nice to have as an option to have a nice soak now and then

Yes: you've guessed it. After getting into a painful and very awkward move in yoga this evening, I just had a delightful 30 mins relaxing in a hot bath.

So, do you have a bath and do you use it? If you don't, do you miss it?

Oddly this house I'm living in at the moment doesn't even have a seperate/dedicated bathroom! Ensuite for both bedrooms though and a toilet downstairs.

I used to take them pre kids every Saturday morning while my husband lay in. But now I don't think I've taken one in well over 5 years. I hardly get a quick shower in peace. A bath would be futile. However I always followed a bath with a shower.

The bath has been great for the kids. But even now remains unused as the shower is quicker and easier to wash in. (Hair etc)

Currently redoing our bathroom, diy job. Thought of ripping out the bath, but we have an en suite with shower, so no real need for two showers.

Will look great retiled and new screen etc. I’ll have an occasional bath I’m sure. Great for aches or for when it’s -10 outside.

I'm 6'3" so I don't really fit into baths.

Though I give it a good try. I'd spend an hour easy too. Just top up the hot water after a while. Still though it's rare I'd have the time.

I have a bath and have gotten into using radox bath gel recently like a proper non-peasant. Its pleasant, get a proper lather going. The picture of plants on the bottle makes you feel like you're in a heated pond in some kind of biodome.

I only bath as both showers in the house are weaker than a watering can.

No bath in the house now, don't really miss it as was rarely used and the last house even had a whirlpool bath but it made too much noise. We've a toddler and small baby, baby gets washed in a tub in the bottom of the shower! If we're away in a hotel with a bath I might take one for the novelty.

No and no. I removed my bath 2 years ago because I never used it, so I got a decent sized shower instead. Being 6'5", the bath hasn't been a comfortable place for me since I was a kid.

Yes. I have a bath but I never use it. I don't know what it is but I can't just lie there, after a few minutes I'm bored out of my mind and want to get out. It is great for small kids though, but time consuming so am trying to get her to have showers instead some of the time.

Twice daily baths at the moment with Epsom salt for medical reasons, and one shower a day.

I can't wait til I can stop having baths and just wash myself quickly and easily

Yes and yes.

I'm 6'5 and it was never really all that enjoyable.

Turns out baths come in different sizes though, got a nice big Jacuzzi bath a few years ago and fit fine.
(never use the Jacuzzi bit though, makes far too much noise)

I have a bath about once a week. Plus showers of course. I use Epsom salts for non medical reasons, just because they are good for you, and make you feel great. My baths are quite fast, as I need the water to be really hot, and as soon as it starts to cool, I get out. Baths are one of life's treats. I lived for more than 15 years in various places with no electricity or running water and always swore one day I would have a bath at my disposal. Love my bath.

Yes occasionally now.
A few years back I used to do maintenance work in a piggery, had to shower before we went in and needed one coming out for sure.
They were provided on site, but I never felt clean until I got home and had a good soak in the bath.
I lived beside a family once where the man had a shed at the back with a bath in, he went in and bathed in it every evening and changed his clothes before he went in the house, he worked in chicken battery.

We have one - but only the kids use it. That being said I wouldn't get rid of it, it's nice to have the option.

I see a lot of people take out the bath and put in a shower "for space" and I just think to myself, you've just spent all that money / done all that work for an extra square meter of bathroom with absolutely no functional use - wtf was the point!

I think for many it simply is a pragmatic decision. If you're living in an ex-corpo or council built house the bathrooms are tiny and you get a lot more space by giving the bath tub up. We live in an 80s built ex council house and the previous owner made the bathroom a bit bigger and crammed a shower and a bathtub in. We opted for just a shower, a spacious one and love the space we gained.
No, I don't miss baths, I'd only have one if I stayed in a Hotel and the room has one.

It depends on, some bathrooms are really insanely tiny. By putting out the bathtub we gained more space for a whole storage unit that we wouldn't have otherwise. In our small-ish house I'd go for storage > bath any day. But I'd probably have one if I'd live in a much bigger house.

depends on the size of the dwelling. larger the space, larger the bath.
- can only agree with shower only for temporary accommodation, i wouldn't live in a home without a bath.

I have one but its going when the bathroom is re-done - want a better shower and more storage space. Last time I had one would have been in the 1990s.

We just had to re-do our bathroom (we had a leak), and I insisted on having a bathtub again.

I don't use it very often, maybe once a month, but it's just such an indulgent pleasure to take a bath, I wouldn't want to be without.

Also, I had a bike accident earlier this year and ended up with quite a lot of bruises and a sprained shoulder. Not sure how well I would have done without being able to take baths to relieve the pain.
