I'm not sure about that, I watched Apostle and quite enjoyed it, though it could have been a bit shorter. Certainly one of the better Netflix exclusive films, for me at least. But there do seem to be some divided opinions about it...

In my mind, the plot was weak, unconvincing, failed to hook you in and the pacing wasn't up to much. It could've done with better editing as it was very disjointed.. pity as they had a good story and a strong cast, but not even the good actors could pull it together.

It had to compete with the last thing I watched on Netflix - House on Haunted Hill. Now that was awesome: talented writers, incredible attention to detail, brilliant plot, excellent acting. HHH is an exceptional netflix series and will be an award winner, no question.

I assume you mean the Haunting of Hill House? Dunno how many times I've called it House on Haunted Hill as well.

As for Lord of the Rings, I saw the first in the cinema (was just me there a month after release) and it didn't really grab me, but saw the Extended Edition dvd for cheap later so bought it. Thought it was great and enjoyed both versions of the next 2 movies.

The Haunting of Hill House it is. That's a few times now I've arsed the name.

Great series. We are currently on the fourth one. Really brilliant cinematography and acting, even the kids.

We watched 2 episodes of Hill House but got pretty bored. Build up to a scare, scare (pretty tame), rinse, repeat. The cinematography while very good, was too over the top imo

It's not on Netflix yet but there's going to be a documentary about the Miami Showband murders.

Wasn’t a fan of Ozarks personally, but I can accept if i’m In the minority.

Don’t know if it was ever broadcast on TV in Ireland, but I very much enjoyed Longmire.

If you are Irish with a Netflix account and have not watched The Siege of Jadotville, you need to set about fixing that.

The first two films are improved greatly by the extended cuts, last one not so much.

Line of duty season 4 seems to have been added, I presume peteeed mentioned it before.
Binged it in 2 days, another cracking series. Season 5 underway buy we won’t see it till next year and confirmation that 6 will follow. Dunbar is superb.

Can someone please explain to me why I bothered to watch Apostle all the way to the end? Although I did fast forward some parts.
I am never going to get that time back.. :(

It doesn't seem to know what it's trying to be. It's all over the shop and dragged out at the end. The acting was a bit hammy and the dialogue was crap.

    Watched "The Resistance Banker" yesterday.

It's a Dutch film about how the Dutch resistance in WW2 was funded by an underground bank.

Well made and acted. Really enjoyed it and would highly recommend.

Errementari: The blacksmith and the devil, is a far better movie. Spanish film with great touches of humour, carries itself right through with a better plot and is dark to an extent, seems predictable, but then it isn't.. very enjoyable. Beats Apostle, easy.

It wouldn't be hard beat to be fair. The end was just ridiculous (
there was absolutely no need for the exploding cliff!!
) and i'd say twenty minutes could have been cut off the whole thing too.

Too right. I fast forwarded that bit, then rewinded it and thought WTAF?

If I didn't like a film, I'd just turn it off, I wouldn't bother fast forwarding through it. That makes no sense to me at all.

Sometimes we all get distracted, the phone rings etc. and am not sure if it's me or it, might have missed something. Out of fecking curiosity too - that movie had some excellent actors in it, seemed like a good production, it can't be that bad surely? But it was..

Longmire is quality. Anything with Katee Sackof gets my vote.

'The Forest' (French) is great with lots of twists.
'La Mante' (Also French) is clever serial killer stuff.
    Both very good

Yeah La Mante is very good, only 6 episodes long so not a massive commitment.

I am a sucker for crime shows so some others I'd recommend even though most have been said already:
Dark - arguably the best I've come across on Netflix
    Bordertown
    Borderliner
    Ozark
    Mindhunter
    Manhunt: Unabomber
    The Sinner

Re: that scene in Apostle, I did wonder if it was intended to echo
the blood waterfall on the island in Byzantium
. But, for all that, I did enjoy the film, despite its flaws. The
    purification ritual
was very well handled, allowing the viewer's imagination to fill in the gaps rather than showing it explicitly.

Line of Duty was extremely good, 3 seasons of it.
Not sure if it’s been mentioned.

I'd be surprised if it has been mentioned seeing as it's not a HIDDEN gem.......
