Gutter down-pipe with no drain

hi, we've bought a house with a converted garage. The converted garage has a bay window, and has guttering over the top and a downpipe to the side of the bay window. Water from the downpipe runs onto the top of the concrete driveway because there was never any original drain built there.

We've planning to dig up the driveway and put down a new concrete driveway soon. I'm thinking now is the right time to address the lack of drain for the bay window downpipe.

What's the typical approach here? Should i insist that the driveway contractors find the sewer pipe where all the other drains are running into, and link the bay window downpipe to it?

How do i know if this sewer pipe is at the front or back of the house? Would it depend on the slope of the site? It's an 80's house in an estate.

    thanks.

You cannot insist that the garden contractor finds a surface water system. It may not be there. You can of course pay them to investigate wjere a possible system may be or route the down pipe to a nearby surface water system.

Had similar to yourself OP, ended up paying to get a pipe underground to a gulley from a shed downpipe. He had the concrete project secure so laid out my options beforehand at no cost.

You need to tap into the existing rainwater pipes if you can locate them. Otherwise you could dig an independent soak pit and run pipes into that

This is important. You should not be using the grey waste sewerage for gutter run off

Surely in an 80's estate you'd be looking at a combined system ...
