    The government has form here in outsourcing to India. Land registry maps are one example. Loads of mistakes uncovered. It's a scandal that'll blow up soon

    We should get all the people on social welfare to run Social Welfare. Problem solved, Joe.

    "Yes, we can do that, and for half the price."

    "Great, so. Here's a contract."

    <a year later>

    "Sorry, we fecked it up, but look, here's another deal. We can sort it out for very little extra indeed."

    I'm confused! They all want to go back to work asap but say it could be a long haul as well.

    Did the department outsource anything to India I wonder? Sounds like the unholy alliance of Accenture and India involved, when I hear a new computer system was implemented

    The libraries computer system was some years ago changed to a California based one with no real time assistance. It was implemented overnight with only an offline sample introduction day implemented by the most junior grade 3 entry level staff (brilliant people that they were) who had worked out a way the dedicated university system might be used in a public library system. Staff were left like complete remits for a while with public bitterly complaining at their “inefficiency”. All introduced by stealth and taken away from local authorities by the Government of Ireland. System works well now, no small thanks to the lowest paid staff who taught the formless management.

    That bit was ridiculous. If you're in work and have various voluntary commitments and expenses, they should be the first to get the chop if your income plummets to disability payment levels, no matter for how long.

    ICS mortgages - property investment mortgages. There's a disaster waiting to happen if ever I've seen one.

    Have to be seen to be wishing to be back at work. Some might be running little businesses on de side so to speak, with welfare payment very welcome.

    Setting things up nicely for the Late Late Show tonight

    RTE really are scumbags

    Just curious, and I've nothing particularly against it, but how or why did RTE decide the afternoon radio slot would be the show for LGBTXYZ issues? I know Pantibliss is or was doing a show sometime in the evening but outside of that, afternoon radio on RTE seems to be the chosen slot.
