Best Broadband Modem for hikVision camera and remote access

My parents have had HikVision camera fitted for the last few years. They are on Eircom broadband. They upgraded their router last year but something happened it and eir won't supply a new one unless the sign up to a new contract with them (something they dont want to do at the min) They have gone back to the old eir f1000…

They have gone back to the old eir f1000 router but, to be honest its a pile of sh*t. They have a static IP address etc.

I am looking for recommendations for the best modem to connect to eir but, is easy to setup port forwarding etc for the HikVision access from the app remotely etc.

Best to buy a good quality third party router and just put the Eir modem into bridge mode so it only acts as a dumb modem:

You could also buy a new modem/router that is compatible with Eir:

Having said that, Eir are bs'ing your parents. If you wanted you could tell your parents to call Eir and tell them in no uncertain terms to send a new Eir router without a new contract or they will move to Virgin Media. That normally has them changing their tune.
