2% to 21% some jump! Parties tell manifesto lies every election to get that extra few percent. Some low key Dragon makes one observation and his vote increases 10 fold.
In work today the general consensus from Higgins voters was that even though they agreed and respected Casey for pointing out the obvious but that were sticking with a safe pair of hands.
Terrible result for the others apart from maybe Freeman. Gavin and Gallagher have taking a right hammering. Sinn Feins poor show probably biggest shock of them all. They are usually good for getting their support out, in theory a low turn out should have helped them.

If this exit poll result is borne out in the count tomorrow the candidate that would be most disappointed would seem to be Gallagher considering that he was in second place in all polls before Casey`s comments and now may only finish fifth.

This is a great result for Casey and the center right in Ireland.

This vote was not about what he said about travellers, it was a bout a general fatigue with the left wing nonsense thet has taken over in Ireland.

Its about a welfare state that is incredibly unfair to those who work
Its about a double standard with regard to travellers and the law
Its about the tax we pay being pissed away on wasters like Margeret Cash

Enough is enough!! If Casey founds a political party that continues to call out the lefty bull**** I won't only vote for them.... I WILL RUN FOR THEM!!!

I missed Gallagher's and Ni Riada's percentage. What were they?

No harm that there is a backlash of sorts against the more left leaning mainstream politicians to bring some more balance to Irish politics.

I wish for the day we have an economically conservative centre right party that represents people that work for a living.

I agree with this, those that dislike Casey are clinging to the traveller comments, it was his views on welfare in general that struck me. I voted for him to get him to come second & a political party might wake up & listen to the working public.

I'm sceptical of the IT figure to be honest... the media have spent the last fortnight belittling Casey for his views and the threat he represents to the cosy setup between the 2 main parties and said media hangers-on, to the point of where polls in the last week+ have been suspiciously absent.

Now, just after closing time at the polls we have reports that MDH has comfortably won when it seems that Casey gathered overwhelming support in that time.

Maybe that sounds like a conspiracy theory, but to be very honest given the aforementioned relationships between those at the top in this country and those who report on the state of affairs, how would we know anyway at this point?

I'm struggling to remember when we had an actual left(ish) of centre government.
The Rainbow Coalition came close perhaps? Waaay back in the 1990s.

Generally Ireland has had right of centre governments so it's amazing how the left can be blamed for our financial woes.

Peter Casey wanted to implement an American model of welfare that meant 1000's of people living under motorway bridges, just like America.

Seriously, I despair for the intelligence of the voting electorate voting for Peter Casey and his spin doctoring.

I don't have any respect for the other two dragons throughout the election but by Jayzuz, I have total respect for them now.

Brilliant result for Casey, and hopefully a turning point in Ireland's embrace of American-style identity politics. A real slap in the face for Varadkar and the pious elites in Dublin 4. Our newest "ethnic minority group" won't like it one bit, but Casey has spoken the truth and been vindicated by winning 10 times the support he had before he angered the progressive left.

Casey got 20% of a 46% -50% max turnout. That is even lower.

I know the 'victory' spin has started already, but I am chuffed at these figures. Ireland is not declining into to hate and selfishness, that is good enough for me.

You should have been hoping for 40%+ for Casey. Had he been elected it would have been the best thing to happen to Travellers.
