    Really weak from Gallagher there

    Please.
    Spare us the condescending rubbish

    He talks so much bull****

Earlier on in the campaign he was saying "I don't want to replace Michael D Higgins, I want to succeed him"

It's absolutely ridiculous that these six people are the only candidates for the public to vote for.

Not one of them are fit to be the President of Ireland.
One looks like a hobbit and many voted and will vote for him as president based on that fact alone!

He's the only one giving straight answers. The rest of them are spoofers especially Gallagher and MDH.

    So you're taking him seriously...

It was far too short for my liking.

Sad part of it all is Michael D will get another 7 years getting paid a 6 figure salary, essentially to do absolutely nothing.
Keep his head below the line and then **** off after spending another 14 years of his life suckling on the teat of the taxpayer.
Not that any of the rest are any better.

5 million people and these are the 6 candidates?

It's a narrative that seems to have popped up since that election. He finished second, well clear of MMG but never looked like winning during the count.

In a poll published a few days before that Frontline debate, he had already lost a lot of support to Michael D.

What exactly has he proved? He's a career politician and a hypocrite who has spent the last 7 years (still) living off the taxpayer and pontificating, yet to the credit of his handlers has somehow been transformed into some sort of loveable leprechaun type figure.

And so did Mary Robinson and Mary McAleese live off the taxpayer !!! This is not new ! These expenses have been in place for presidents for decades !!

    Half time:
Not sure what Joan Freeman brings to the debate or the election. Waste of space. Deposit lost already rest of the week is just throwing good money after bad.

Leana NiRiada seems disinterested and clearly this is about her retaining her European seat next year.

Michael D Higgins got his ass handed to him and came across as an elitist by saying it was a waste to leave the jet sitting on the ground when he had an important lecture to give in Belfast. He'll be re-elected but I suspect he just threw away the victory on the first count.

Sean Gallagher started well but got absolutely hammered as the debate went on. He's in a real scrap with Casey for second place.

Casey is playing to a small section of rural ireland. He won't win but has secured his deposit and I'd say he'll be very pleased how things have gone so far.

Gavin Duffy is coming across as an arrogant twat and won't get his deposit back.

Could you imagine if MDH wasn't in the race this time, and we have the other 5 - who do you reckon would win then?

Cause let's face it the next president election is going to be an open race.

Which generalization? Do you really think he’d talk about travelers disproportionate crime rate, social welfare etc if he didn’t have the cold hard statistics on those matters? He’d get ripped apart. Truth is everything he’s said is spot on and backed up with facts.
