Anyone else phone freezing? I have to lock it and unlock it to use it again?
    It's happening a few times a day.

What's best way of getting it sorted?
I bought it from Vodafone on line. I'm using an Eir sim card and am not a Vodafone customer.
    Thanks

Do a factory reset, if that doesn't fix it, then you'll have to take it back to Vodafone.

Mine is the same. Especially this week

    Me too!
    Once a week normally!

Once a few weeks ago, happened 4 or 5 times in one day, but not since.

Hard to pinpoint why these freezes occur and most people don't get them, so they just think the problem is in our heads :D

    Hopefully it'll freeze less with 9.0 :)

Frozen once on me so far, Instagram was the issue I think.
That app is a bit flaky at times.

2 weeks in and only one person has gotten Pie, by having a Malaysian Sim card.

I'm ready to say I'm a tad annoyed at the speed of this rollout

I still haven't got 9.0 on my Nokia 7 Plus yet, and it hasn't appeared on my Nokia 8 either. One thing that I have noticed is that the 8 gets regular monthly security updates while the 7 Plus is still on the August update. What's up with that?

I heard a while ago that Nokia will only release an update for your phone if the carrier has approved that update. This is the same for unlocked phones that weren't even purchased from a carrier.

That makes sense actually, my 7 Plus was bought unlocked from Vodafone but I use it with a Three SIM, while the 8 was bought via a contract with Three. Still, I was under the impression that Android One was way more frequent then what I've experienced, even older flagship Samsung's and Sony's have at least the September security patch now.

I think Nokia have skipped the September security update for this because 9.0 is out.

Maybe, but Nokia should be keeping up with the monthly security patches, I mean if my 8 got the September and October patches then, hypothetically speaking, my 7 Plus should have got them also.

IMO, this is starting to look like abit of a PR disaster for Nokia. They claimed to be getting updates around the same time the Google Pixel, which was a massive selling point, but even the OnePlus has beaten them to Pie.

Any easy way to spoof a carrier? :)

    Use a VPN?

That only spoofs an IP address, and I've tried all around the world with tunnelbear app and no joy.

There was an app before that would let you spoof carriers for testing reasons, so if we could do that, and spoof an Indian or Malaysian carrier, the update should come through! Theoretically :)

Did everyone get their Google Home Mini?

There are easy instructions on xda how to download a zip file with the final build and to install it directly from the device via a code entered into the dialer. No complicate USB, flashing or anything.

It why it takes them this long I still don't understand unless there is really a carrier element to it, than I understand as Vodafone is just bad at those thin.

    Update in progress!
    Thanks for the heads up!
I should have checked XDA a bit more really, I just never thought the OTA would take so long :)

It will take a while for it to complete, mine took over 90 minutes followed by a quick reboot and after reboot, I had the new version.

Also, it looks like doing it this way will not erase anything, everything is still there.

Hope it works for you too.

I'm liking Android 9 so far.
Having the time on the left makes a lot of sense. Cleaner top bar I think.
    Phone feels snappier too.
