Toddler Tooth Extraction

**Posting this here as well as in dentistry as may have more footflow....**

My (almost) two year old had a fall and split one of his front teeth up to the root. Had him at the dentist this morning who has referred me to the HSE clinic tomorrow morning but has recommended that it's extracted under anesthetic.

If it's removed does that mean he'll be without a front tooth until he's 5/6 or will the adult teeth start to move down early? Heart is broken for the poor fella.

We have private health insurance, does anyone have experience of the public system for this kind of thing? Would we be better off paying the excess and going to the Hermitage? The dentist we saw didn't think so....

Would love to hear of similar situations or any advice...

How did you get on? One of my twins chipped a front tooth a few months ago so has a gappy smile too. Thankfully we needed no more dental work.

Half of it has fallen out now and he's in a lot of discomfort. The HSE said it could be two weeks. Going to call Hermitage today and find out how the process works there.

They confirmed that he'll be without a front tooth till the adult one would have come down anyway but they're not concerned that there will be spacing issues.

Is Dr Abigail Moore still there? We dealt with her on my eldest and she was amazing
