"software update is required to connect to your iPhone" alert.

I have ben getting this alert recently,

It asks to install some software (needs itunes shut down), so I assume its an itunes thing

When ht update is ongoing, and I try to launch itunes, it tells me its being updated

Then it takes an age and nothing seems to happen

My iPhone is not able to sync right now

I don't have any beta installed on mac or iPhone, and have only updated mac and iPhone as directed

Any ideas?

Did you update iOS during the week? It's a big update so it will take a while.
