60km around NCD - windy but warm enough. Did a normal route but in the opposite direction

3.8km through rush hour Dublin. Felt bloody good to be back in the saddle

25km with my Mam (She's 64) this morning on her heavy old halfords MTB. Haven't been on a bike ride with her since I was a kid. Took us 2.5 hours what with stopping to chat to people she knew and pointing out who used to live here and there and who was dead :D

Best day in the saddle in ages !!!!

Was going great this morning, flying in thanks to a nice tail wind, then it all went wrong! Got the flat at Goldenbridge, went to swap in the new tube and the valve connection got stuck in the pump and came out from the stem of the valve (see below). Managed o fix it but happened again and got properly stuck in the pump this time, so had to walk (in the rain) to harolds cross to T Delaney and Son. Fixed it for me in a few so grabbed some tubes and CO2 off him and then into work!

Left at 6.45 got to work at 9.15! Fun times

Well yesterday was interesting on the commute home. I didn't quite appreciate how strong the tail wind was until I looked down at my Garmin and saw I was tipping along at 50+km/h without much effort and overtaking traffic outside St.Annes park, I then put the boot down and touch 60km/h for a couple of seconds. All of this on the flat. Great craic, no KOMs for my wind assisted effort, but ranked top 10 on that busy stretch!

And of course I paid the price this morning with that brutal headwind into work. I was lucky to get above 25km/h, lets see what the evening brings I suppose.

Out yesterday evening straight after work, was nice and warm, but windy! Started off great with a tail wind, truckin along around 30-35kph until i turned into the wind, that slowed me down, and the last 5k it was kinda heavy misty rain. Had to take off the glasses to see the road. 21k but felt great after. avg 26.5kph. Forgot to have a slice of toast with p'nutbutter before heading out and was starving when I got back in. Inhaled my dinner in my wet gear before having a shower....Mental note, ALWAYS bring a bar, even if not hungry leaving....

Tomorrow morning is meant to be worse/better for winds! At least I'll have something to push me up the hills

I worked from home yesterday and felt supremely lazy and bused it in from Clontarf this morning. Would definitely have been a fun return trip anyway! Might go out later this afternoon to Howth, looks like it'll be a bit mental tomorrow so might not risk the cycle commute or training ride until Thursday.

Covered in muck this morning, my bike is filthy and I only cleaned it on Saturday. I really have to get this commuter bike ready, I really don't want to destroy the good bike and the canal is so busy, I'm bound to have a tip.

yesterday's commute was perfect weather, no wind etc. This morning felt like there was a head wind all the way in with a light shower thrown in for good measure

Out for 34km today with one hard effort in the middle, headwind was really bad on exposed roads.

Back in work today (and suffering) after a long weekend in Provence.

Met some friends from the UK on a cycling themed stag party (never a good idea).Based ourselves in Bédoin.

Rode Ventoux from Bédoin on the Saturday and descended into Sault for lunch and back through the Nesque gorge where we happened upon a UCI womens pro cycling stage race the TCFIA,which was a thrill to witness, and then onto to Villes-sur-Auzon for a few cold ones and then back to Bédoin for more self harm......

Sunday morning I rode back up Ventoux with a very much depleted stag party :) from Malaucène with an unbelievably sore head,we had to wait on the summit for the road to reopen after the annual Ventoux motor sport hill climb featuring Ferraris,Lamborghinis and Maseratis.

A small cafe on the summit provided much welcomed shelter as the winds and mist set in and the temperature plummeted.

Fred, the best man and stag party organiser drove a support vehicle all weekend,he owns a small independent brewery in Lancashire, brought over the bikes and a couple of kegs and kept us all fully hydrated :D:D

    Brilliant weekend!

When I was out earlier I spotted a tractor up ahead on the left looking to get out so I sat up and waved him out as I didn't want him behind me on a narrowish road. I normally don't mind it but the smell of manure from the trailer was so strong it brought tears to my eyes :o

First post here. So hello everyone. Enjoying reading the threads so far.

Did a short (slow) 36km yesterday eve up to Military Road from Churchtown. Had planned on doing 50 (base camp) but just got fed up of the headwind and bailed after 25. After I descended I thought this was not the attitude of cyclist so I climbed back up to the top.

Then the lazy devil on my shoulder said "due to the headwind you have put in more effort in 36k than 50k. It's your birthday go home for cake." So I headed home and ate cake.

Be careful up there, if the wind is the same as yesterday you could easily end up in the ditch. Also impossible to hear cars.

That is good going considering that wind, fair play. I can't see the strava link, maybe you have it set to private...

For the climbing to distance ratio and with the wind, that is far from slow. Keep up the good work. :)

Man it is warm cycling in - if you commute, and you work in a business casual office, does anyone cycle in with their work attire on? This morning, I had to roll it up and put it in a backpack, held up quite well.

It was quite enjoyable passing out the long line of traffic stuck at the traffic lights :)

Windy this morning but a loss less cyclists than usual on the canal. A lot of fallen debris though.

It is very warm still. I have showers in work which is handy.

I was sweating this morning, even with the strong wind. Broke several PR's today too. Wind assisted.

There is a shower here too, but as I cycle only about 4.6-5km I dont think its worth it. Was sweating alright and broke a fastest split time :)

Nicer cycle in today, although a fair bit of debris about. Looks like it's gonna piss on the way home, and I had hoped to get a Howth spin in this evening :(

Didn't think I'd need the winter jersey this early in the year!
